Prep Baseball Report is proud to announce the promotion of Eitan Leff to technical lead within the company's data operations department.

Leff recently graduated from Brandeis University with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and physics, with honors. Previously, he was a volunteer scout for the Israel Baseball National Team during their Summer Olympics run in 2021. Before that, Leff worked as research assistant for the Brandeis baseball program where he collected player data and built automated scouting reports that were implemented during games. He created a model for stolen bases using a player’s 60 times, lead size, and run expectancy matrices.

In 2020, Leff was first brought on at Prep Baseball Report as an intern where he worked on a number of different critical initiatives, including the rostering system for the inaugural season of the MLB Draft League, in which 39 players were eventually drafted. Leff has built a number of partner ingestion pipelines and re-designed internal ETL systems to allow for streamlining data ingestion from PBR-branded events onto PBR's website, which allow for the data collected to be presented in more reader-friendly formats for players, parents, and coaches to interpret with greater comprehension.

“Eitan does not shy away from challenging problems and has all the qualities of a world-class technical leader," said Erick Reyes, PBR chief technical officer. "Eitan has worked on designing complex data systems while mentoring less-experienced engineers with care and patience – he's a rockstar."

Leff will continue with the Prep Baseball Report in a more senior role, where he will help accelerate our company’s mission of providing actionable data-driven insights to players and scouts alike to support athletes as they advance to the next level.

“Eitan is going to be a central figure in our evolution as a company, enriching all aspects of our operations with data," said Cullen McGowan, PBR managing director. "He has delivered a number of projects from internal applications to automated services, and will continue to push the boundaries of our event and scouting experience.”
