All-State Games; Unsigned Seniors

PBR Arkansas’ All State Games were October 22^nd and 23^rd at Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist University. Over the past week three of the unsigned seniors that participated in the Games have made college commitments. Today we take a look at a few unsigned seniors who played well in the All-State Games.

2017 RHP Noah Fowler Catholic HS
Fowler is a 6-foot 180-pound RHP with a stocky frame and an average build. He impressed in the all-state games locating three pitches for strikes on a consistent basis. His fastball worked 82-84 mph, his 11/5 curveball was 69-72 mph and his changeup worked 72-73 mph. The curveball had 11/5 shape with gradual break. The change up was the better of the two he threw it with fastball arm speed and it had late arm side run. Mechanically he does a sound repeating his mechanics. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. Overall Fowler is a solid RHP with a feel to pitch.

2017 RHP Chase Hutson, Greene County Tech HS
Hutson is a 6-foot-5 180-pound RHP with a large frame and an athletic build. He pitched from a ¾ arm slot with short arm action. He repeated his simple tall and fall delivery consistently, with limited extension to home plate. His fastball worked 82-84 mph with slight arm side run. He showed the ability to locate it on both sides of the plate. He mixed in a curveball to keep hitters off balance. His curveball was thrown 68-71 mph with a sweeping action. Overall Hutson is a big athlete with some projection as he becomes more physical.

2017 MIF Colby Reck, Conway HS
Reck is a 5-foot-10 175-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. He impressed with his offensive ability picking up at least one hit in all three games. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he arm bars as his hands load back, minimum stride. He attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with rotation. He uses fast bat speed and showed a consistent feel for the barrel, He is an above average runner showing first step quickness. Defensively he played through the baseball with normal action, a fluid exchange and an accurate arm with carry. Overall showed the ability of solid middle infielder at the collegiate level with an advanced feel for his barrel.

2017 MIF/RHP Hayes Cox, Fayetteville HS
Cox is a 5-foot-10 180-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. He showed the ability to earn the right to compete as a two way player at the next level. On the mound his fastball worked 82-84 mph and was as high as 85 mph. He competed in the strike zone with his breaking ball as well at 70-72 mph with late break. As a position player he showed an advanced defensive skill set playing through the baseball with fluid footwork, a quick exchange and strong accurate arm. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a toe tap and back hand load, and he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and a line drive swing. He showed the ability to hit balls to all fields. Overall Cox is a competitive player with a high motor and the ability to be a pitcher or position player.

2017 C/3B/RHP Caleb Grace. Har-ber HS
Grace is a 5-foot-11 180-pound athlete with an athletic frame and physical build. Grace showed the ability to play multiple position, flashing the ability to compete on the mound as well. On the mound he pitched two innings recording a strike out with no runs allowed. He pitched from an H ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm. He repeated his mechanics with a distinct balance point maintaining rhythm, he finish tall toward home plate. His fastball worked 82-84 mph with late life through the strike zone, he complimented his fastball with a curveball with 11/5 shape thrown 70-72 mph with some depth. Offensively he starts from an open stance, strides in to gets back online consistently. He attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with fast bat speed. When his approach stays to opposite field he is productive hitter, shows tendency to get around balls at times. Defensively showed the ability to play behind the plate or a corner infield spot. On the infield he played through the baseball with normal actions and strong accurate arm. Behind the plate he is a quiet receiver and shows the technique and effort required to be a sound blocking the baseball. He works through home plate throwing to second with a strong accurate arm. Overall Grace is well-rounded competitor who has the tools required to compete at the collegiate level.
