TAMPA—Alonso hosted Manatee in one of the 8A regional quarterfinal games and was able to come away with a 4-3 victory. The Ravens were led on the mound by 2015 LHP and Texas Signee Nick Kennedy who gave his team a solid four innings. Reliever and 2017 LHP and Florida commit Jordan Butler had some of his better stuff and threw three stifling innings with seven strikeouts. Butler also went 3-4 with a home run, double and two RBI’s at the plate to lead the offense.

Alonso jumped to an early 2-0 with Butler’s home run that was driven to deep right center in the bottom of the first. Manatee, however, was able to get one back in the second when 2016 OF Garret Richelieu drove in a run with a double. Then in the third, Manatee tied the game with a solo home run from 2015 3B/OF Robert Rew.

Manatee never led in the game but was tied with Alonso up until the fifth inning when 2017 INF Jared DeSantolo drove in the eventual game-winning run. A one run lead was plenty for Butler as he closed the door and helped lead Alonso to the 8A regional semifinals.
