April 10th Daily Scoreboard Update



DIVISION I/II RANKED TEAMS

#1 Grove City (8-0)

#2 Strongsville (7-2) lost to Medina (4-3) 3-2. Medina overcame a 2 run deficit against starting pitcher Austin Pritchard (UC recruit) to defeat Strongsville. Junior pitcher Andrew Sokolowski (1-1) went the distance for the win. It was his 2nd straight complete game. He shut out Strongsville over the last 5 innings. 

#3 Defiance (8-1)

#4 Massillon Jackson (8-1)

#5 Centerville (10-1) beat Springfield 9-8. 

#6 Walsh Jesuit (7-1) beat Benedictine 4-1. Freshman right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner earns first varsity win. He went 5 innings not allowing  an earned run while notching 6 strikeouts. Senior Ohio Wesleyan recruit Drew Miletti hits a towering home run in first inning. It was his 3rd of the year. Junior Cassidy Brown hits the go ahead RBI double in the 5th and earned his 4th save of the year in the 7th.

#7 Mason (9-3) 

#8 Elder (10-3) beat #39 Anderson 10-4.

#9 Moeller (9-3) 

#10 Mentor (4-1) falls to North Royalton 6-4. Unsigned senior Jake Lark started on the mound for North Royalton going 4 innings before getting pulled in the 5th with a no out bases loaded jam. Before getting pulled, he allow three earned runs. Unsigned senior Alex Albright came in relief getting out of the jam and continuing pitch three more scoreless innings. Junior Adam Vasil went 1-3 with a homerun, RBI, and 2 runs. Senior Cooper Freeman went 2 for 3 with 2 runs. Senior Brandon Garnet went 4-4 with a 2B and a RBI. Junior Mike Hudec helped the cause going 1-3 with an RBI. Royalton went up 6-4 in top of the 7th, and Alex Albright shut the door to seal the win for the bears.

#11 St. Ignatius (4-1)

#12 Sandusky (10-2) lost to Shelby 6-4.

#13 Willoughby South (6-2) lost to Bullit East HS out of Kentucky (11-3) by a score of 10-2 and beat Kentucky CountryDay (9-2) by a score of 8-1. Steve Scaccia had 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

#14 North Canton Hoover (8-3) loses to Massillon Perry (3-3) by a score of 12-2. For Perry, Sam Mathie had two hits and three RBIs and Jake Flounders had two hits and two RBIs. Dom Iero had two hits for Hoover.

#15 Hudson (7-0)

#16 Ashland (10-0) beat Clear Fork 7-0. Senior Adam Schaly (Stetson recruit) threw a perfect game while striking out 16 batters. 

#17 Columbus DeSales (9-3) lost to Hilton Head (SC) 9-4 and beat Warner Christian (FL) 29-5. In the second game, Zak DeCamp (Lake Erie recruit) went 1 for 2 with 7 RBI. He had a grand slam, sac fly, ground out to score a run, and a walk with the bases loaded. 

#18 Norwalk (11-0) beat Bellevue (9-3) by a score of 10-5. Senior Evan Bader improves to 4-0 with the win.

#19 Loveland (9-2) falls to Badin 5-3.

#20 Toledo Central Catholic (3-1)

#21 St. Xavier (5-2) beat Highlands 23-0.

#24 Canton South (7-3) lost to West Branch (5-4) by a score of 7-6. West Branch’s Brenden Wells scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th ining with two outs on a throwing error. Matt Unkefer had three hits and two runs scored for the Warriors. Logan Bowles, Damon Wade and Conner Thomson had two hits apiece for Canton South.

#37 Northmont (8-2) beat Fairmont 6-4. Junior Tom Stoffel went 3 for 3 with a triple while collecting his 100th career hit at Northmont. Alex Crabtree threw a complete game only allowing one hit.

#39 Anderson (10-2) lost to #8 Elder 10-4.

#40 Toledo St. Johns (4-2) beat Bedford, Michigan (6-4) 14-7, 13-5. Senior Jesse Adams (Boston College recruit) went 4.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 6.

#41 Perrysburg (5-2-2) 

#42 West Holmes (9-1) lost to Orrville (7-1) by a score of 7-3. Trevor Kerr picked up the win in relief going 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits, 3 walks, and 3 earned runs while striking out 6. 

#43 Shaker Heights (4-2)

#44 Tecumseh (10-3) lost to Tippecanoe (8-4) by a score of 4-3. Sophomore Ben Hughes picked up the win.

#45 Springboro (10-1) beat Fairborn (6-5) by a score of 12-3. 

#46 Talawanda (11-2)

#47 Chillicothe Unioto (6-1)

#48 Delaware Hayes (7-3)

#49 Wapakoneta (10-1) beat Elida (3-9) 9-1. Jordan Crawford went 5-innings allowing just 1 hit and no runs, while striking out 5.

#4 Carlisle (13-1) beat Brookville 18-3 in 5 innings of play. Sophomore Josh Tarter collected his fifth win of the season throwing a complete game with 5 strikeouts. Sophomore catcher Levi Boyer went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a run, and 5 RBI.

#5 Defiance Tinora (9-1)

#6 Wheelersburg (8-0)

#7 Summit Country Day (11-1) is on their spring trip in Orlando. They lost to Dumont (NJ) 8-4 on Monday and beat Spencerport (NY) 5-3 on Tuesday. Kenny Kerr went 5 and 1/3 innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. Junior LHP - Tommy Crowl threw the final 1 and 2/3 innings innings for his first save on the season. Kerr scored 2 runs for Summit and Matt Slager (Ohio Northern recruit) went 2-3 with a 2B.

#16 Coldwater (7-3) lost to New Bremen 4-3. Aaron Clune lead the New Bremen offense with a 2 for 3 performance at the plate. Matt Selhorst and Matt Kramer each had two hits for Coldwater. Brent Bertke picked up the win with 7 innings pitched. He allowed 3 earned runs, eight strikeouts, and walked two.

#17 Triad (8-3) loses to Cedarville (6-4) by a score of 4-2. 

#18 Bloom Carroll (7-2)

#19 Fairview (9-3) beat Ayersville (7-3) 3-2. (BGSU recruit) Brett Fitzwater struck out 16 in the contest.

#20 Canton Central Catholic (7-1) beat St. Thomas Aquinas (3-7) by a score of 9-2. For Central Catholic, Todd Locke had three hits, Gunnar Smeyres and Tim Valentine had two hits apiece and Shawn Jones had three RBIs. Sean Dempsey and Adam Tesch had two hits apiece for Aquinas.

#21 Ottawa-Glandorf (9-3) beat Celina 8-0. (Kentucky recruit) Casey Schroeder had a triple, home run and scored three runs. Matt Warnecke went the distance on the mound allowing 5 hits, while striking out 6.

#22 St. Clairsville (6-2)

#24 Seven Hills (8-1) beat New Miami 14-6.

NON-RANKED TEAMS

Hicksville (4-7) beat Edgerton (2-6) 11-6. Seth Klepper had a single and triple for Hicksville.

Antwerp (3-5) beat Wayne Trace (2-9) 13-4. Andy Coleman went the distance allowing 4 runs on only 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 10.

Miller City (5-6) beat McComb (5-5) 7-3.

Kalida (5-3) beat Arlington (3-6) 13-10.

Northwood (7-2) beat Danbury 11-1. Brandon Mahoney struck out 11 for Northwood.

Mapleton beat St. Paul 7-3.

Tiffin Columbian beat Willard 5-4.

Plymouth beat New London 5-4.

Hardin Northern beat Lima Temple Christian 7-2.

Hopewell-Loudon beat Mohawk 10-0.

McDonald (6-2) beat Southington (1-4) 21-1. Austin Bucan had 7 RBI for the Blue Devils.

Liberty (6-3) beat Girard (8-4) 7-2.

Jefferson (6-3) beat Brookfield (5-4) 8-5 and Lakeview (0-8) 12-6.

Howland (8-3) beat Brush 13-0. Jacob Froats struck out 8, extending his scoreless streak to 17 innings.

Copley (5-2) beat Wadsworth (3-7) 4-1. 

Firestone (6-6) beat Akron East 10-0 (5-inn). Kevin Halverson struck out 8 in 5 innings.

Tallmadge (6-4) beat Green (3-6) 8-1. Senior Matt Shomo (2-0) got the win going six innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out four. Shomo led the offense with two singles, a double and two RBI's. Senior shortstop Danny Blake went 3 for 4 with two singles and a double. Junior Kody Edwards had a single and an RBI, junior Zach Skraba doubled in a run and Tucker Linder singled in a run for the Blue Devils. Rob Aigler had two singles for the Bulldogs.

Highland (7-2) beat Cloverleaf (4-6) by a score of 16-6. Lucas Raley had a double, 4 singles, 4 runs, and 2 RBI. 

Copley (5-2) beat Wadsworth (3-7) by a score of 4-1.  

Bellefontaine (6-2) beat Kenton Ridge 8-6.  

Indian Lake (9-3) beat Greenon 10-0. Trevor Jacobs pitched 6 innings allowing one hit and striking out 10.

Waynesville beat Reading 9-3. Junior Connor Combs went 2 for 4 at the plate. 

Chardon (6-2) beat First Assembly, NC 12 to 2.  John Martillotta (Toledo recruit) went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Senior Tanner Dovsek pitched and got the win. Dovsek was also 2 for 4 with 2 doubles.        

Bethel (10-0) beat Miami East on Monday. Senior John Ellerbrock pitched a 3 hitter. Senior Joey Serrer hit a solo homerun in the first inning and went on to have a 3 for 3 day at the plate. Sophomore Jordan Elam went 2 or 3 with 2 RBI.

Kings beat Carlson 15-3. 

Clermont Northeastern beat Mariemont 10-3. 

Lebanon beat West Carrollton 4-3.

Lancaster (7-5) beat Pickerington Central (4-8) by a score of 17-4. 

Licking Heights (8-1) beat Shekinah Christian 9-3. 

Utica (10-3) beat East Knox 6-0.

Uniontown Lake (4-3) beat Canton McKinley 9-4. Lake’s Zach Gazdacko was 1-for-2 with three walks, two RBIs and two runs scored. Andrew Swan went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Blue Streaks. The game was called after six innings because of darkness.

Miamisburg (7-4) beat Xenia 4-0.
