BC Selects Camp Recap - Day 2

Today was Day 2 of 3 of the BC Selects Camp, as 48 players from the BCPBL, BC Minor’s College Prep League and even one playing out of Spokane, Washington, hope to be recognized as one of the top 20 baseball players in the province. On a slick rainy day at Langley’s McLeod Stadium, the position players ran 60 Yard times on the infield turf, then hit in the cages while the pitchers prepared to throw. They then played a 12-inning game, featuring 6 pitchers a side.

Fastest 60 Times:

  • Luciano Letteri (Coquitlam Reds, 2020) – 6.7
  • Williams Camacho Soto (Coquitlam Reds, 2020) – 6.7
  • Lucas Yang (North Shore Twins, 2020) – 6.8
  • Russell Young (Langley Blaze, 2020) – 6.88
  • Jack Yaremko (Coquitlam Reds, 2020) – 6.9
  • Jake Vrlak (North Shore Twins, 2020) – 6.95
  • Aaron Marsh (Mid-Island Pirates, 2020) – 7.01

Offensive Highlights:

Vicarte Domingo (UBC Thunder- P/INF- 2020- R/R)
Report: Domingo had two extra base hits today (double and a triple), he showed to be able to time up a mid-80s fastball as he pounded a double to the left-centre gap early on, then tacked on an opposite field triple to right-centre in the late innings of the scrimmage. He has a quick and short swing, with good extension up the middle of the field.

Trent Lenihan (White Rock Tritons- 3B/SS- 2020- R/R)
Report: Lenihan at 6’4”, 200lbs is a presence in the batter’s box. With an upright stance, his tall and fall approach at the plate allows success when on time, which he was today. Lenihan lined an opposite field double to right-centre early on, and later showed patience in a long at-bat that resulted in a line-drive single up the middle.

Carlin Dick (Fraser Valley Cardinals- 1B/OF- 2020- L/L)
Report: Dick flashed impact player qualities today, as he played a solid left field, and tacked on a couple hits as well as 2 stolen bases. Though not plus speed, his instincts and jumps on the bases allowed him to easily steal 2 bases on 3 pitches. He has a quick and efficient swing, goes the other way well, stocky build with sneaky pop.

Aaron Marsh (Mid-Island Pirates- SS/2B- 2020- L/R)
Report: Marsh was the first of the day to crack into the extra base hit category, as the pitchers held the hitters to dismal through the first few innings. Marsh lifted a ball to the right/centre gap and was thrown out at third trying to stretch a triple.
