Bishop Chatard Senior RHP chooses his school

Tim Sauer is a 6-foot, 170 pound right handed submarine pitcher with good sink action. Sauer recently committed to play baseball at Franklin College.

PBR: Why did you choose Franklin?
Sauer:  I like the coaching staff and the fact that I will have a good chance at playing all four years. Also the small school atmosphere, the Athletic Training department, and the distance to home all played a big part in my decision.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Sauer:  Once Franklin had talked to me, I slowed down the recruiting process and stuck with my decision to go there.

PBR: Where did Franklin first see you compete?
Sauer:  They saw me at a showcase at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Sauer:  They expect me to compete for playing time and help them out on the mound as a relief pitcher.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Franklin?
Sauer:  My biggest strength is that I’m able to come in to pitch in high pressure situations and close the game out. This will help Franklin win some close games.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Sauer:  Coach Jon Richardson and Coach Em Carney both helped me with not only the physical part of baseball, but also the mental part and how I can become a better player on and off the field.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?
Sauer:  Pony Express. My most exciting experience was closing a game against a team from Canada last year.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter you have faced in Indiana?
Sauer:  The toughest pitcher is Dillon Peters and the toughest hitter is Matt Dauby, both of Cathedral.

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Sauer:  A personal goal of mine is to beat Cathedral in the city championship. As a team our goal is to win sectionals.
