The Prange Classic is an annual tournament held in Des Moines, IA to honor the dedication and service from Brent Prange; a decorated umpire from Central Iowa, who passed away from cancer. It has been a dream of the Prange Family to have a Varsity Baseball Classic featuring the top baseball programs in the state of Iowa and the top baseball umpires that were very close friends of Brent. The Prange Family and Saydel Athletic Department are doing everything possible to make this Classic the best baseball experience in the state in memory of Brent Prange.

Prep Baseball Report Iowa was in attendance at the tournament. The following are notes compiled over numerous games throughout the tournament. You can also find Insider Info. on specific players in the PBR IA Scout Blog for subscribers only.

Brent Prange Classic Notes

+ Trey Crowley, SS, Urbandale, 2016- athletic SS with solid arm strength. Moves well laterally. Lead-off hitter for high school team. Flashes bat speed. Kirkwood CC commit.

+ Nate Stoltze, C/OF, Urbandale, 2017- athletic high-energy guy. Shows arm strength from outfield. Big motor- plays hard all the time. Aggressive swings at plate.

+ Derek Mowrey, 1B, Urbandale, 2017- large strong build, good presence in batters box, LHH, shows ability with bat.

+ Luke Fennelly, SS, Davenport Assumption, 2017- smaller lean build, shows good hands and feet at short. Makes routine plays. Has quickness. Contact hitter. Will improve offensively with maturity and added strength.

+ Connor Lindaman, RHP, Davenport Assumption, 2016- Iowa commit as 1B/RHP. 80-82 mph on mound with 71-73 mph breaking ball. Works downhill. Solid feel for zone. Strength is in bat with ability to stay in middle of field.

+ Joe Argo, CF, Davenport Assumption, 2016- above avg. runner. Running back build. Solid frame. 4.2 runner home-to-first. Tracks balls well in outfield with good athleticism.

+ Tynan Shahidi, SS, Ames, 2018- plays SS with energy. Strong arm for class. Makes routine plays.

+ Noah Stober, RHP, Ankeny Centennial, 2018- 6-foot-3, solid frame. 80-82 mph; touching 84 mph in relief. Slight downhill plane to fastball with solid life.

+ Cory Koster, LHP, Ankeny Centennial, 2016- Century CC commit. Good life on fastball. Sneaky quick out front, ball jumps on hitter. Good command of fastball at 80-83 mph.

+ Drew Prange, SS, Ankeny Centennial, 2016- Century CC commit. Good actions. Plays loose and easy in field. Consistent solid contact to middle/pull side of field. Solid accuracy and arm strength across diamond.

+ Justin Hutter, 3B/OF, Bettendorf, 2017- Lean athletic frame. Late bloomer. Similar to older brother at same age. Under the radar prospect. Shows defensive ability with projectable bat.

+ Colin Kasperbauer, 2B, Sioux City Heelan, 2018- LHH. One of better swings I've seen this summer. Consistent loud line drives to middle of field. Stays inside ball well; short to contact. Very hitterish. Short repeatable arm action. Solid ability with feet and glove in middle infield.

+ Jackson Boever, SS, Sioux City Heelan, 2018- Strong athletic frame. Moves well in field. Slightly raw- previously an outfielder. Good set-up in box. Aggressive swings. Shows strength in bat. Strong follow.

+ Brayden Logan, UTL, Sioux City Heelan, 2017- under-sized dynamo, huge motor, plays extremely hard, competitive at numerous positions, good barrel skills at plate, shows ability to hit.

+ Brendan Dougherty, 3B, Dowling Catholic, 2016- Bradley commit. Has made significant strength gains. Has translated well into games. Athletic third baseman. LHH- consistent loud contact to middle-pull side of field.

+ Jackson Little, OF, Waverly-Shell Rock, 2017- Above avg. runner. Good athlete. Shows ability to get on base and score runs. Moves well in field.
