Brownsburg Remains a Mystery

Brownsburg has arguably been the most disappointing team in the state when you compare talent to wins. They play in the tough HHC but still this team is a major sleeper come sectionals. In their lineup they have Isacc Sampen, who is arguably the most talented all around player in the state, Sam Sampen (2013), Bobby Carr, Logan Coughlin, David Oliger, Leo Tabasco, and Tyler Whetstone. Every college that goes and sees this team finds a player he likes. On the mound, Isacc Sampen, Jordan Deal led the way most of the year both Division one commits and both have touched 88 or better. Yet, Brownsburg is 11-9. Come sectional time, I can guarantee no one wants to see Brownsburg. As evidence last night, when they knocked off Zionsville 5-4.

Brownsburg scored first in the third when Parker Dunshee walked three straight to force in a run. Zionsville quickly responded with three of their own in the bottom of the third. Mic Ritchey delivered the big blow of the inning with a double to score brother Cameron.

With the score remaining 3-1 headed to the top of the 7th, Brownsburg got things going with a Logan Coughlin triple to right center and then drove in by Jeremy Jones. The Bulldogs would tie the game on a single from Isacc Sampen followed up by Sam Sampen grounding into a potential game ending double play. The umpire ruled him safe however. Oliger would put Brownsburg back on top with an RBI single. Zionsville tried to respond but with runners on second and third down one, Deal was able to induce Dunshee to ground out and Bertram to fly out to center giving Brownsburg a 5-4 win.
