HOW TO grip a bat

*Zach Reks – University of Kentucky Outfielder*

The smallest components of the swing are actually the most important.

One of those being how you grip the bat. This particular tip is more relevant to younger hitters, but is extremely important.

Chris Burke teaches this in a very simple and easy way so it can be easily applied. We have two different types of knuckles: door knocking knuckles and punching knuckles. The hitters who look like they are holding the bat awkwardly are typically lining up their punching knuckles on both hands. This makes for a very uncomfortable position. The elbows are flared out and the hitter looks uncomfortable in general.

On the flip side, you have those who line up both their door knocking knuckles, which creates a very un-athletic position.

As Chris Burke teaches in this week's tip of the week, the best way to grip the bat is to line up your door knocking knuckles with your punching knuckles.

By doing so, you are creating the most athletic position possible and also allowing your body to relax. Check out this week's tip of the week to learn more!

NOTE: This video will expire 7 days from post 12/26/2017. If you are viewing this Tip of the Week after its expiration, go to http://ecoach.coach/baseball/ for more information.
