Augustana College Super-Sectional

Rock Island Alleman (28-12) trounced Richmond Burton and the Rockets’ Wright State-bound LHP E.J. Trapino 14-3. Trapino, who entered the Class 2A Sauget Super-Sectional with a perfect 12-0 mark and had only allowed two earned runs all season, was run over by the Pioneer onslaught.

Pioneer senior Ryan O’Keefe led the Alleman hit parade with a single double and a bomb and drove home five Pioneer runs. Junior Cody Sedlock picked up the win on the mound for Alleman and helped himself with two hits and two RBI.

Benedictine University Super-Sectional

Herscher (33-7) rolled past Gordon Tech 9-3 on Monday (See Drake Skleba’s story)

Sauget (GCS Park) Super-Sectional

The clock did not strike midnight on Class 2A Cinderella Trenton Wesclin (20-17) on Monday. Led by Warrior senior Alex Wilkin, Wesclin stunned two-time defending Class 2A state champion Teutopolis 5-1. Wilkin (7-3) out-dueled T-Town senior Mark Niebrugge (8-1) to advance to a 5 pm semifinal game with Normal U-High (28-10) at O’Brien Field in Peoria. Teutopolis bows out at (31-9)

Lincoln Land College Super-Sectional Monday 3

Normal U-High (28-10) crushed Quincy Notre Dame 11-1 on Monday in Springfield.

Marion Miners Super-Sectional

Effingham (St. Anthony) (29-8-1)blasted Shawnee 7-0 on Monday in Marion.

St. Anthony’s will meet Marquette of Alton at 10 o’clock at O’Brien Field in Peoria.

Lincoln Land College Super-Sectional Monday at 1

Alton (Marquette) (27-8) slipped past Pawnee 5-4 on Monday in Springfield.

Benedictine University Super-Sectional

Lena Winslow (27-11-1) blanked Ottawa Marquette6-0. (See Drake Skleba’s story)

University of Illinois Super-Sectional

Tuscola (25-12) outslugged Tremont 10-6 in Champaign on Monday and will face Lena-Winslow in Peoria on Friday at noon.

Class 4A Warren Regional Final

Highland Park (18-19) outslugged Carmel of Mundelein 8-6 behind senior LHP Jake Rubin (9-4). Rubin went the distance for the Giants and won for the second time in the warren Regional.

Class 3A Deerfield Regional Final

St. Viator rallied past Deerfield 4-3. (See Sean Duncan’s story).
