PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Regner: Mankato State had everything I wanted and more. An outstanding baseball program with a great coaching staff, academic opportunities that interested me and a great atmosphere on campus with the student body.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Regner: Augustana, NDSU, Century CC, Iowa Central CC, DCTC CC, St. Cloud State
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Regner: Mankato’s coaching staff first saw me in section play last season. They were in contact with me at that point and followed me through showcases and fall ball. I think being in contact with the coaches a lot through the summer really built our connection and the ability to make my decision a lot easier.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Regner: Relaxed I’d say is a better term for how I feel with the process being over but when it comes to playing baseball, my mindset hasn’t changed since I have made my commitment. I still want to be the hardest working player on and off the field and better myself everyday.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Regner: Having the opportunity to come in as a 2-way player was pretty big for me. I was very glad to see that they liked my versatility on the field.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Regner: Many coaches all the way up through HS baseball have taught me so much and gave me opportunities to succeed which has definitely helped me get to where I am as a baseball player, but my older brother and parents have showed and taught me the most about baseball. They all have never given up on me and always encouraged me to push myself to get the best out of me.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Regner: Some stress here and there, as well as a lot of exploring and finding what was the best fit for me for my next 4 years of my life. Both I’d say for sure, but maybe fun, more than easy, to have been interacting with coaches and hearing about their program and what they have to offer. Difficult knowing that I was going to have to make a decision sometime sooner or later as well as not always getting to talk to the school you maybe dreamed about playing for.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Regner: Going into the fall, I will be starting as a 2-way player. Pitching, playing MIF and Outfield.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Regner: Having the opportunity to start on the Varsity in 8th grade and throwing a no-hitter my sophomore year.

6/19/18- 5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #57 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 6.84 runner. Tall stance, drops hands, flat swing plane, line drive hitter, works mid/away, solid contact hitter, 84 mph exit velocity. Athletic in field, works out front, sure hands, covers ground well, avg. direction with feet, flashes of actions, 83 mph arm across infield. On mound; simple rocker step in to medium balance point, lands slightly across body, hides ball from hitter, ¾ arm slot with hand quickness, has extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 83-84 mph with late arm-side run. Sharp late break on tight spinning 10/4 breaking ball. Quick twitch on mound and has athletic actions.
3/18/18- 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #33 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.25 runner. Smaller compact athletic frame, square stance, leg kick trigger with shoulder load, some stiffness in lower half, squares baseball consistently, works middle of field, line drive approach, 80 mph exit velocity. Athletic in field, light on feet, works around and through baseball, glove is stiff at times but makes routine plays and cover ground well, solid actions and is accurate to bag on throws, 80 mph arm across infield. On mound; solid tempo and body control, long slight pie arm action, lands across body, shows hand speed out front and controls zone well. Fastball jumps out of hand, sneaky quick, at 80-81 mph with late running action. Slider shape with solid spin on 11/5 breaking ball. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed and has above avg. fade and sink.
