Jacobs 3, No. 22 Rockton Hononegah 2
Proving that the Golden Eagles of Jacobs’ (24-11) run to the IHSBCA Summer State Tournament Elite 8 wasn’t a fluke, the Golden Eagles advanced to the Class 4A Sweet 16 with a thrilling nine-inning victory over Rockton Hononegah (22-9).

After the NIC-10 champs from Hononegah scored a run in the top of the ninth to take a 2-1 lead, the never-say-die Eagles rallied for two runs to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Jacobs tied the game at 2-2 on a crucial Indian miscue. The Golden Eagles won it when no. 9 hitter Matt Hickey’s bunt-single plated Aaron Meciej with the walk-off winner, sending the Eagle contingent soaring into the Huntley twilight.

ST. CHARLES EAST SECTIONAL

Wheaton North 4, Bartlett 1
Wheaton North (27-8) rolled past Bartlett behind a four-hitter from Falcon LHP Doug Hayes. The lone Hawk run was unearned. Tom Colletti ripped a double and plated a pair of Falcon runs. Morehead State-bound Ryan Kent and Jake Taschetta each had a single and an RBI for WN.
