Purdue-recruit junior RHP Mike Kornacker faced 15 St. Joseph Charger batters on Friday afternoon.The future Boilermaker pitcher retired all 15 Chargers to record a five-inning perfecto. Kornacker struck out six of them. Kornacker with his bat fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and plated four Viking runs. Viking senior 3B Zach Lewis hammered a solo-shot and doubled.
Fox Valley Valley
No. 8 Huntley 16, Prairie Ridge 10
Huntley (13-0; 7-0) outslugged Prairie Ridge behind the booming bat of University of Illinois-recruit junior Mike Skonieczny. The future Fighting Illini slugger went deep three times and plated eight Red Raider runs. University of Louisville-bound Colin Lyman singled, doubled, tripled, scored three runs and drove in two. University of Nebraska-bound Bryce Only had two singles two runs scored and two RBI.
Prairie Ridge (11-4; 5-2) was led by University of Missouri-bound Jordan Getzelman, who homered singled and drove home five PR runs. Joe Van Doorn added a pair of singles and three RBI.
Crystal Lake South 11; Cary-Grove 4
In a battle of FVC-Valley unbeatens, Crystal Lake South (10-0; 7-0) scored seven times in the first inning, and when on to crush Cary-Grove (11-3; 6-1) on Friday. Michael Danca led the Gator attack with two singles a double and drove home two Gator runs. Red-Hot Max Meitzler continued his hot-hitting with a 4-for-4 afternoon with a double and an RBI. Ryan Wilkening chipped in with a single triple and a pair of RBI. Eric Schiller improved to 3-0 on the mound with seven-hitter, with five strikeouts.
Big 12
Bloomington 12-19, Decatur Eisenhower 2, 2
Bloomington s (11-6; 2-0) swept past Decatur Eisenhower in the Purple Raiders Big 12 Conference opening twin-bill. Junior Nick Chapin led the Raiders in game one, with two hits and three RBI. Senior Jacob Scogin went the distance to improve to 4-1 and chipped in with a pair of hits.
In game two, junior Jacob Whitcomb won his first decision of 2013 with a complete-game effort. Senior Roman Visintine, led the Purple Raider attack with three hits and three RBI.
East Suburban Catholic
Marist 19, St. Patrick 2
Marist (4-5; 1-0) opened up ESCC play with a bang on Friday. Redhawk senior Conor Funk had three hits and drove home seven Marist runs. Fellow senior Marty Mehalek had two hits and three RBI.
