Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
Brentwood Academy 10, Ensworth 2
The Eagles put together a strong effort from both sides of the baseball in their win over Ensworth on Wednesday evening. Jack Victory lead the offense, finishing 2-3 with a run and 3 RBIs and was helped along by Alex Reynolds and James Rosen, who both had 2 hits of their own. Conner Woodlee scored twice and drove 1 in. Reynolds earned the W on the mound, tossing 5 innings and allowing only 2 unearned runs while striking out 7.
Davidson Academy 7, Donelson Christian Academy 1
Ethan Tressler delivered a solid performance on the mound for Davidson Academy on Wednesday night, dealing 5 innings and allowing only 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 9. Tressler also finished 1-3 with a double and an RBI at the plate. James Flynn went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and Nick Cummings tallied 3 RBIs, both doubling.
Evangelical Christian 2, Christian Brothers1 (8 innings)
Houston Harding dominated from both sides of the baseball in Wednesday's victory over Christian Brothers, tossing the first 7 innings and allowing only 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 4. Harding also finished 3-3 at the plate with an RBI and scored the winning run on a walk-off Josh Rooker double in the bottom of the 8th. Nathan McMeans earned the W on the mound by tossing a scoreless top of the 8th.
Farragut 2, William Blount 0
The Admirals received a complete-game shutout from Owen Kovacs on Wednesday night, tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 3 hits while striking out 7. Jake Hagenow, Parker Noland, and Jake Grooms each had 2 hits, with Grooms producing the only RBI of the night.
Hardin Valley 8, West (Knoxville) 7
Drew Parks delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th and tossed the final 2 innings on the mound to earn a Hardin Valley victory on Wednesday evening. Dawson Byard, Brock Umberger, and Cameron Fisher powered the offense, combining to go 7-12 with 2 doubles, 4 runs, and 6 RBIs on the night. Trey Cash added a hit and a run.
Oakland 4, Smyrna 0
Oakland earned a win over Smyrna on Wednesday night on the back of Seth Henson and his complete-game shutout. Henson allowed only 4 hits and didn't anyone in his 7 innings of work. Jacob Pennington and Jackson Cauthen each went 1-3 and combined for 3 RBIs, while finished 2-3 with an RBI of his own.
Karns 9, Knoxville Catholic 3
The Beavers' offense busted out on Wednesday night, throwing together 13 hits and 2 walks to push across 9 runs in a win. Alex Hames, Trevor Adams, Tyler Hartless, and Jacob Nelson combined for an impressive 11-15 night with 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Harmes, Adams, and Nelson doubled, while Jared Culp and Dawson Buchanan each added a hit and an RBI of their own. Hartless earned the W on the mound.
Bearden 9, Heritage 7
Clark Poynter and Brandon Trammell stayed hot, combining to produce 6 of the Bulldogs' 9 hits on the night. Poynter finished with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run, while Trammel had a double, a home run, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Jacob Balsley added 2 hits, a run, and an RBI and Shawn Deangelo earned the W on the mound. Poynter recorded the save.
