Dodgers Scout Team Tryout: Standouts

CJ Butts
North Florida Scouting Director

The Florida Dodgers Scout Team held their 2020 Fall tryouts this past weekend. A ton of talent was on display with players from the 2021-2024 classes, but several players stood out among the rest. Check out our standouts from the Dodgers tryout.

2021

Bryce Brindle, C, Creekside

Thick, stocky build with a strong swing from the right side. He keeps the weight in the legs and drives from the backside with a balanced finish and level bat path. Displays a simple approach and flashes some pop in the bat. Behind the plate the accurate, quick arm is on full display and he moves well laterally. Hard nosed and confident behind the plate as any pitcher should love throwing to him.

Cody Carwile, LHP, Fleming Island

Long, lanky with plenty of room to fill out, Carwile displays a loose, controlled arm action, high 3/4 slot with natural arm side run. Finishes out front and on line through the target. FB was located on the corners well at 83-85 mph T 87. With a short, late breaking CB at 70-73 and a 78-80 mph CH.

Connor Moore, SS, St. John’s Country Day

One of the top athletes in attendance, Moore is lean and twitchy with strength in the frame. High waisted, long limbs. Ran a 6.72 60, bumped 91 mph across the infield, while showcasing advanced actions and soft hands that worked together with the feet. At the plate, the quick twitch ability showed out with plus bat speed and a fast coil through the zone. Attacks pitches but stays within himself and creates torque in the barrel giving him some extra pop off the bat.
