The first round of the 4B regional playoffs belonged to Brandon Eike and the Powhatan Indians on Tuesday night.

Eike was electric on the mound for Powhatan. The junior right hander threw seven innings, striking out fifteen, allowed zero walks, and struck out fifteen along the way.

The Virginia Tech commit got some help from his Indians' teammates on the offensive side of the ball. Colby Cheatam, a recent Mary Baldwin commit, started things off in the bottom of the first with a double down the left field line. He would score one batter later on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt. One batter later Eike would single putting runners at the corners. Cameron Sprouse would hit a sacrifice fly for Powhatan that would make it 2-0 Indians after one inning of play.

After Powhatan scraped one run across in the second, making it 2-0, the Indians would put together a big seven run inning that would push this one out of reach for the Foxes of King George. Powhatan would benefit from a Sprouse RBI groundout, a Tanner Ritt RBI single, and a two run single by sophomore Connor Woodel. At the end of the third inning it was 10-0 Powhatan.

The only other run that would come across would be via the bat of freshman Chase Gayness who battled deep into an at bat and finished it with a line drive RBI single to left center field, making it 11-0 Powhatan.

The Foxes only had two runners reach base tonight, one by error and the other a one out single in the seventh inning.

Powhatan will go on to face Courtland on Thursday at 4:30 PM in the 4B regional quarterfinals.
