Fall Prospect League: Unsigned Seniors

After two weeks of the fall prospect league, there are several unsigned seniors in the league. Here is a look at a few that have stood out.

Matt Goodheart, INF/OF, Magnolia HS
Goodheart is a 6-foot-1 180-pound infielder with an athletic frame and build. An advanced offensive player as a left-handed hitter. He starts with a balanced stance, with a smooth load, he attacks the baseball with a line drive swing and fast bat speed. He stays balanced throughout his swing and has an advanced feel for the barrel. Defensively he plays through the baseball with solid footwork. His actions have some stiffness to them, he has a quick exchange and an accurate arm. He runs a 6.60 in the 60. Overall Goodheart is an elite athlete with an advanced offensive game.

Bryson Haskins, OF. Ashdown HS

Haskins is a 6-foot 170-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and physical build. He is a premium athlete that runs a 6.57 in the 60. Defensively he shows solid instincts playing through the baseball with fluid footwork. He uses a normal exchange with stiff arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Offensively he attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with rotation. He fines barrel on a consistent basis. Overall Haskins is an advanced athlete with raw bat speed.

Caleb Horton, INF/OF Lonoke HS
Horton is a 5-foot-9 140-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. He plays through the baseball with rushed footwork and solid actions. He uses a normal exchange with short arm action from a H ¾ arm slot. He throws the baseball accurately across the infield. Offensivley he starts from an athletic stance with a simple load and stride. He attacks the baseball with a slight uphill swing with rotation. He maintains balance through out contact. Overall Horton is solid player that competes at a high level.

Preston Pope, RHP, Nashville HS
Pope is 5-foot-7 140-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He uses a simple repeated delivery with consistent rhythm. He maintains balance throughout and finishes athletically. His fastball works 77-81 mph with slight sink. He compliments his fastball with a 61-63 mph Frisbee breaking ball with gradual break. He pounds the strike zone consistently. In the first two weeks of the league he has thrown 5 innings with 5 strike outs 4 hits and no walks. Overall Pope is a right-hander with a feel to pitch that competes consistently in the strike zone.

Luke Wewers, C, Catholic HS
Wewers is a 6-foot 190-pound catcher with a solid frame and an average build. Offensively he uses a balanced stance with a minimum load. He swings uphill with his hands starting from a lower slot. His swing has some rotation to it. He produces exit velocity up to 86 mph.  Defensively he sets up with an athletic stance. He maintains proper glove angles while receiving. He shows proper technique and effort while blocking. His pop times are 2.07-2.19. Overall Wewers is a solid defender with some pull power potential as a hitter. During the league he has been a consistent offensive threat for the LR Rockets.
