Farragut 2016 SS Duncan Pence Selected for Prep Baseball Report Future Games

By Doug Hall
Tennessee Director of Scouting

It’s not often a freshman makes an impact at perennial 3A power Farragut High School, but Duncan Pence did just that last year when he cracked the Farragut lineup as the starting third baseman.

Pence slid over to shortstop as a sophomore this past spring in helping lead Farragut to the 3A State Title by hitting .377 with 17 doubles, 9 home runs, 38 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.

Now the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Pence will put his talents on display at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games as a member of the Stars team July 31-August 2 at Grand Park in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Future Games brings together the top Class of 2016 players from the Prep Baseball Report coverage area in what has become a recruiting extravaganza for college coaches all over the country.  Last year more than 110 Division I coaches were in attendance at the event that included schools from every conference in the eastern half of the country.

On July 31, Pence will get the opportunity to participate in a position player showcase prior to the Stars team playing a total of three games on August 1-2.  The Stars Team will consist of players from the newer states that Prep Baseball Report has begun operation in recently such as Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, New York, Colorado, Virginia, Iowa, and Minnesota.  The other nine teams in the event will include Team Illinois, Team Indiana, Team Kansas, Team Kentucky, Team Michigan, Team Missouri, Team Ohio, Team Pennsylvania, and Team Wisconsin.  Tennessee will have its own team for the event in 2015.

Under Armour serves as the sponsor for the event and provides jerseys and cleats to all players selected to participate.  As with any Prep Baseball Report event, Pence will have his online profile created with his stats, picture, and video from the event.
