Throughout Wednesday, July 26-Saturday, July 30, 2023 Prep Baseball Report Future Games were held in Emerson, Georgia at our LakePoint Sports Complex. For this event the various PBR staffs from around the country selected the best uncommitted rising juniors and sophomores to form teams to represent their state or region in the event, bringing well over 450 of the best uncommitted players in the United States and Canada to one four field quad for 4 days.
For this event, players from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and DC were selected to form Team Mid-Atlantic. Players on Team Mid-Atlantic had a position player showcase workout on Wednesday and then played in three games, one per day, Thursday-Saturday, going 1-1-1 against Team Florida, Team Carolinas, and Team California. Scouts from all 30 MLB teams and well over 350 college coaches were in attendance.
Naill's Analysis
Joseph Nottingham RHP / 1B / Loyola Blakefield, MD / 2025Arguably the biggest winner amongst Team Mid-Atlantic arms this week, the long 6-foot-5, 190 pound righty certainly raised his stock at the Future Games. It’s an easy, repeatable operation with electric stuff, running the fastball up to 93 and sitting 90-92 over his two innings of work. The fastball works both sides of the plate with carry, exploding out of the hand with a knack for inducing whiffs and weak contact in the zone. Mixes a bigger, gradual shaped 11/5 curveball that has feel for the zone and shows some promise when down around the knees. The slider is the best secondary, showcasing tight, shorter shape in the low to mid 80’s. Has the ability to back foot the slider to left-handed hitters and is most effective when tunneled off the fastball, creating weak contact and plenty of whiffs both in and out of the zone. The fluidity and smoothness to the operation on the bump is what stood out the most, and the raw ability is certainly something that gained attention. |
