GCA Gets Another Big Offensive Day In Victory

A 17-hit offensive explosion was what the Greenbrier Christian Gators put up in their 13-3 victory over Norfolk Collegiate in six innings on Tuesday night.

The Gator offense struck immediately from the get-go, as Nic Britt led the Gator half of the first off with a drag bunt single and stole second base. Two hitters later, JT Inskeep (VMI) would drive in Britt with an RBI single through the left side. Next hitter Ethan Ott would drive a deep two-run homerun to centerfield and the Gators were quickly ahead 3-0. After Ryland Brown tripled following up the homerun, he would score on a wild pitch. Gavin Younce would hit a single to reach base and his courtesy runner would eventually score after a Josh Stevens single to give GCA a quick 5-0 lead.

Norfolk Collegiate would respond with a run in the top of the second inning, and the Gators answered with two of their own in the inning and threatening for more. The Gators again would add four more runs in the bottom of the third highlighted by an RBI double from Ott adding two more RBI to his day and extending the lead to 11-1.

Norfolk Christian would score a run in the fifth and sixth innings to get to 11-3, but the Gators would end the game due to the 10-run after five inning mercy rule with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. to make the final 13-3.

Ott finished with four-RBI on the day in a 2-for-3 effort with a double and Homerun.

Britt and Brown finished the day with three hits each, while Brown added an RBI.

Inskeep went 2-for-2 with an RBI

Joseph Fredericks got the win on the mound going three innings giving up one run for GCA.

Christian James went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Norfolk Collegiate.
