Greenbrier Christian showed off their offensive depth today while defeating Trinity Episcopal by a score of 11-1. The Gators scored three in the 1st, one in the 2nd, three in the 4th, and four in the sixth to win this one going away.

In the first sophomore Austin Younce got the bats started with a one out double down the left field line and would score a few pitches later on a JT Inskeep single through the left side. Trinity surrendered a few walks and an error that would push the score to 3-0 after the top half of the 1st. Junior right-hander Tyler Wilson would get the Titans in order in the bottom half.

In the top of the second Younce would once again get on, but this time he would touch them all as he hit a homerun out of right center field to make it 4-0 and that would be all of the scoring for the Gators in the 2nd. In the bottom half Wilson would once again retire Trinity in order collecting another strikeout along the way.

A single by James McGrady would be all the hitting for Greenbrier in the 3rd, but Trinity’s pitcher Brennan Tyznar would help himself out with a homerun of his own to push the score to 4-1.

Greenbrier would break this one open in the 4th with a bases loaded double by sophomore Ethan Ott. His double would score two making it 6-1. Ryland Brown would hit a flared single to right to make it 7-1 in favor of Greenbrier. A leadoff single would be all for Trinity as Wilson would continue pounding the strike zone, collecting two more K’s this half.

There would be no baserunners until the top of the 5th when Nic Britt would get a leadoff double down the third baseline and three batters later Ott would once again hit a baseball very hard, this time sending a line drive over the centerfield fence to make it 10-1 Greenbrier. McGrady hit a single back through the middle to score one more making it 11-1 Gators.

In the bottom half of the 6th junior right-hander Sparky Bannon would strikeout the side in order to end the game with a final score of 11-1 in favor of Greenbrier Christian.

Younce was 2-4 on the day with two runs scored, one RBI, one double, and one homerun. Ott finished 3-3 with a double, a homerun, two runs scored, and four RBI. James McGrady was 2-3 with two RBI’s.
