ICYMI: 2020 CSN Recruiting Class

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

Yesterday, we took a look at the new trend of players committing to in-state schools in our interview with College of Southern Nevada Assistant Coach, Matt Stoner. Today, we take a look at the Nevada Scouting Director's, Brett Harrison, notes on each player in the Coyotes 2020 recruiting class. I what could be the best incoming freshman class in the program's 20-year history, we wanted to break down the attributes each prospect will bring to CSN next Spring.

Colby Smith SS / 3B / Desert Oasis, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Colby was an integral part of the Diamondback's State Championship run last year and was looking to lead the group back to prominence this Spring. The #10 Ranked 2020 grad is a prospect with above average instincts and smooth actions in the field and had flashes of his power potential coming through early this Spring, hitting two homeruns in a potential State Championship matchup against Basic. With the exit of current CSN shortstop, Jack Pineda (Baylor), Colby Smith should be the leading candidate at shortstop for the Coyotes."

John-Howard Bobo OF / 1B / Basic Academy, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Bobo is an excellent athlete with a high baseball IQ. A staple at the top of the Basic lineup throughout his high school career, this is a player that could make an immediate impact for the Coyotes."

Fabian Torres C / 3B / Legacy, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Arguably the best receiver in the class, Fabian is should have an opportunity to start early in his career as an excellent game manager with the ability to handle velocity. Torres is going to play a major role in the Coyotes success next Spring."

Dominyck Bullard C / 3B / Bishop Gorman, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Dominyck is a Swiss Army Knife of a player. He is a serviceable player all over the field and has a bat that should keep him the middle of the order for the Coyotes. He comes with high praise from the Gorman staff as one of the hardest workers in the program."

Gavin Malcolm SS / Green Valley, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Gavin is a raw talent that has flash some serious tools that has made huge stride throughout his high school career. Primed to have a breakout year, he was off to a tremendous start for the Gators, hitting .571 in the shortened high school season."

Maxwell Leuga OF / C / Green Valley, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Max, arguably, has the most tools in this CSN class with above average arm strength, power and speed. If he is able to bring his entire game together, this future Coyote could become an elite level prospect."

Diego Trujillo 2B / OF / Laughlin, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Diego may be the best overall athlete in this CSN recruiting class. The three sport star out of Laughlin brings a scrappy, blue collar approach to his game that fits perfectly into the style of baseball the Coyotes pride themselves on."

Demitrius Vigil RHP / OF / Basic Academy, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Demitrius is going to thrive under CSN Pitching Coach, Bryan Gidge. He already possesses a polished delivery with fastball up to 86 mph and I expect the velocity to make some jumps as he adds strength to his 6-foot-3 frame."

Everett Williams 3B / RHP / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"The reigning Norther Nevada Offensive Player of the Year might be the biggest steal in the Coyotes 2020 recruiting class. A strong bat from the left side with power potential that should make an immediate impact next Spring."

Colton Zobrist if / Desert Oasis, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Colton utility prospect with a strong, athletic frame at 6-foot, 184 pounds that could be a consistent middle of the order bat for the Coyotes. He comes with high praise from Coach Buboltz for his exceptional work ethic."

Nathaniel Slaman OF / 1B / Desert Oasis, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Nate had a huge fall for the Diamondbacks and followed it up with an impressive showing at the Desert Oasis Scout Day. He was off to a hot start, hitting .480 in the eight games of the shortened 2020 high school season."

Caleb Hubbard SS / Silverado, NV / 2020

Scouting Director Notes

"Caleb comes from one of the most respected programs in the state in Silverado. He plays the game the right way and players who come out of Coach Whitaker's program have excelled once they got to CSN."
