Initial Oklahoma 2021 Class Rankings

The high school baseball season is now just two months away, and with practices already having started, coaches are starting to begin to develop a sense for who their top newcomers will be. Though it is difficult to top the impressive talent that the 2020 class holds and showed last season, the group of freshman in the 2021 class are already shaping up to be possible difference makers throughout the season. Featuring projectable talent, the young 2021’s will have a chance to make an impact on the season before showing their talents on the summer’s national stage. After close evaluations throughout the fall and early winter period, the initial PBR Oklahoma Top 35 in the 2021 class is featured below:

One of the few physically advanced players in the class is C Ian Daugherty (Kingfisher HS) currently leads the way in the 2021 class. A 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with some strength throughout, Daugherty still looks young and will likely continue to put on size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter demonstrates the ability to consistently find barrels and produce pop with a simple swing. He hit almost every ball to the pull-gap wall in his round of BP at the Future Game Trials in August. Defensively, it’s his clean action and ability to consistently put the ball on the bag with pop times between 1.96-2.08 that sets him apart.  

Filling the second spot in the rankings is 2B Cayden Brumbaugh (Edmond Santa Fe HS). The 5-foot-8, 135-pound middle infielder is still developing physically, but is already showing some some polished skills. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows advanced rhythm and timing in his swing with good hand eye coordination as he barrels almost every ball in BP. In the middle infield, Brumbaugh exhibits solid footwork, taking crisp angles to the ball, along with soft hands and an accurate arm. He projects as a top of the lineup player, running a 4.21 home-to-first.  

In the third slot is another developing middle infielder with speed. SS Bryce Logan (Deer Creek HS) is a slender 5-foot-6, 125-pounder. Logan is arguably the best infield defender in the class. On the dirt, Logan shows confident, quick, and smooth actions with advanced footwork and hands with excellent lateral movement. Currently, he is 76 mph across the diamond with accuracy, and will certainly see that number rise as he adds strength to his developing frame. Offensively, he shows the ability to be on time in BP and consistently barrel balls. Also runs a 4.27 home-to-first.
