Nick Moser, OF, Big Walnut HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Mount Vernon Nazarene?

Moser: I chose Mount Vernon because it felt like home. The coaches and and the campus made me feel as if I was destined to go there my whole life. The campus is centered around getting to know everyone and I enjoy that a lot. Also it's a smaller college so when it comes to the classroom, it's easier to get help because you know your professor on a personal level.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Moser: I was considering Denison, Otterbein, and Ohio Wesyleyan.

PBR: Where did Coach Veale first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Moser: Coach Veale saw me last summer when I was playing for Ohio Surge 17u (Griffith) and proceeded to keep an eye on me.

PBR: What are the coaching staffs expectations for you once step foot on campus?

Moser: I'm expected to give it 100% on and off the field. I wouldn't expect anything less.

PBR: Your summer teammate Brent Todys just recently committed to MVNU, how much of an influence did he have in your decision?

Moser: He had an impacting influence for sure. He's one of my good friends and a great teammate so I think it will be nice to step into college with someone who's in the same boat as you.

PBR: Your high school team made a surprise run to the State Final Four last spring.  How much pressure do you feel and what are your personal and team goals for next spring?

Moser: I don't really feel much pressure but there is definitely a target on our backs to say the least. Despite losing key seniors, we are preparing to get after it come spring time. The biggest team goal we have is to win at least 20 games. A few personal goals I have is to steal 50 bases and improve my baseball I.Q. as a whole.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Moser: My family without a doubt. If it wasn't for them, then baseball wouldn't even be an option in my life so I thank them for that.

PBR: What were your stats last spring?

Moser: .455 BA, 51 SB, and 40 RS

PBR: Who is the best pitcher that you have ever faced?

Moser: Tyler Brown from Olentangy Orange. He throws heat especially for his age.
