Justyn EichbaumJustyn Eichbaum, RHP/OF, Tippecanoe HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Campbell?
Eichbaum: I got a phone call from Coach Haire about 2 weeks ago and told my dad that I had to go check Campbell. I had a visit on Wednesday with the whole staff and fell in love with them on the spot. They made it feel like home and that's all I wanted out of a school!

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Eichbaum: Campbell was my first and only offer. Wright state, Elon, UNC-Charlotte, Morehead state were the other schools that I was going to go visit sometime this summer.

PBR: How much did playing down south play a part in your decision?
Eichbaum: It made my decision just a bit easier. It's nice to know that I can be able to play outside year around.

PBR: As you move on to college, how much of a challenge will it be to balance both academics and athletics at the same time?
Eichbaum: I don't think it will be a huge deal. Campbell balances everything a perfect amount. School is taken just a serious as baseball at Campbell. Missing a class is just as bad as missing practice. So the transition shouldn't be to bad.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Eichbaum: In the summer I play for the Midland Braves and so far this summer the most memorable experience was being down 6-4 in the last inning and coming back to be the 18u lids Bulls black.

PBR:  What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?
Eichbaum: My dad has a huge impact on my day to day play when it comes to baseball. He has taught me so much about all aspects of baseball it has been greatly needed in my baseball career so far. Another huge impact was Brian Conley he taught me all my approaches towards the game, how to respect the game the right way and how it should be played.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?
Eichbaum: I didn't get to pitch at all due to a preseason injury but I hit .330 with 4 home runs 4 doubles and 18 RBI.

PBR: Who is the toughest batter that you have faced?
Eichbaum: As a pitcher the toughest batters I have ever pitched against is either Luke Waddell or Cal Conley, they put everything in play and it seems like you can never get them out.
