Inside the recruitment: 2015 Ryan Mallison Middle Infielder Commits to Connors State

I recently had a chance to discuss the recruiting process with Ryan Mallison. Mallison was a key component in Jacksonville making a run to the state semi-finals last spring. He played steady defense at second base. Offensively he was constantly on base with a batting average over 325 and an on base percentage over 450.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose the Connors State College?

Mallison: Connors State brought me on an official visit and gave me a great offer to come play there. The opportunity to play in that winning program is something I can’t pass up.

PBR: Where did they first see you compete?

Mallison: PBR unsigned senior showcase on October 19th.

PBR:  When did you take your first official visit Connors State?

Mallison: October 29th, 2014

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Mallison: To walk on campus and compete for a starting middle infield position.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Mallison: Arkansas Baptist, Henderson State, Northeast Mississippi, Northwest Mississippi

PBR: Who did you play for this summer? Talk about your experience playing for them?

 Mallison: Bob Hickingbotham, Gwantney Chevrolet I have matured as a player greatly by playing for him in past summers.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Mallison: My father, Roger Mallison. He has pushed me to be the best I could be so far in my career.

PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?

Mallison: BA: .349 OBP: .468

 

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Arkansas?

Mallison: Lawson Vasser from Pulaski Academy he is currently a sophomore at the University of Arkansas
