We don’t get the exposure other provinces do. No scouts will come watch Newfoundland play. We don’t compete enough to be as good as the other provinces. These are just a couple of examples of things you will hear people say here in Newfoundland when it comes to high performance athletes in the province. Well, it seems things are about to change in this province. With the newly founded branch of Prep Baseball Report Canada, PBR has set up shop in Atlantic Canada. With Area scouts in all 4 Atlantic Provinces, Atlantic Canada will finally get the exposure that they have deserved for years. Having PBR in each province, will open up opportunities to local athletes who aspire to play baseball at higher levels in high school, university or college either in Canada or the US. With Area Scout Steve Donahue, PBR Atlantic will be out and about covering everything from provincial tournaments to local league play. As an athlete, once you are involved in the PBR circuit, you will have the ability to participate in local showcases, be ranked regionally, be named to a PBR Atlantic Team, and have opportunities to compete and be seen on some of the largest platforms in Canada or south of the border. The future of baseball is bright here on the island, and as the Area Scout, I look forward to getting out and seeing all the top athletes the province of Newfoundland has to offer.

Kody Butt LHP / OF / Waterford Valley, NL / 2022

Report: Standing at 5’9 and 150lbs, Kody has been dominant on the mound as of late. At a recent exhibition series, Kody sat at 73-76mph with a moving fastball that has topped 81mph. In 2 innings pitched, he faced 7 batters and sat down 5 of them via the strikeout. While hitting a growth spurt of late, he has used that size to his advantage seeing personal bests all winter long in bullpen sessions. Kody is a work horse on and off the field, and has shown great command. If Kody continues to grow and build on his early successes, this young man has a very bright future on the mound.

Hudson White LHP / OF / Okotoks, NL / 2024

Report: Hudson White has something on his side that you can’t teach and that is size. At 15 years old, he stands at 6’2 and weighs 200lbs. His wing span is something you don’t see on a kid his age. Hudson put the work in over the winter, and added 10mph to his fastball in just a few months. He now sits at 81-84mph and has topped 87mph. He is very down to earth even with his success. He remains very humble and thankful for his opportunities and continues to be a leader on the field. Hudson has been invited to take part in the PBR Future Games in Lake Point, Georgia this July.  In the fall of 2022, Hudson will be heading to Okotoks, Alberta to join the Dawgs baseball club.

Jaida Lee RHP / OF / Gonzaga High School, NL / 2023

Report: After honing her craft this off- season with Premier Sports Academy, Jaida Lee has a busy couple of months ahead of her. This 15 year old female fire baller shows flashes of brilliance on the mound, topping out at 76mph already this spring. As a young multi-sport athlete (high performance volleyball star), who regularly competes against males on the diamond, she shows no signs of being intimidated by her competition. In fact, she is the one doing the intimidating when she is on the mound. She is a two- way player who also plays second base for her 16U Islanders team in the local intermediate league. Over the next couple of months, Jaida will be competing at the 15U Atlantic Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick, as well as the 17U Atlantic Showcase in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Jaida has also been invited as an underage prospect to showcase with the Canadian Women’s National Team in Quebec. To finish off a busy season, Jaida will take her talents south of the border to compete for the Chicago Pioneers at the Roy Hobbs World Series in Fort Myers, Florida. We here at PBR Atlantic are excited to see what the future holds for this young lady.
