Jake Mills Make his Commitment



 

Jake Mills is a 6’4, 210lb RHP/3B from Mt. Vernon High School. He recently committed to play baseball at Vincennes University. On the mound Mills throws three pitches with his fastball sitting in the mid to upper 80s. PBR had a chance to talk with Mills about his commitment…

 

PBR: Why did you choose Vincennes?

Jake: I liked what they had to offer, I could play right away, and it is the perfect distance away from home, and I like Coach Barney's philosophy.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Jake: Purdue, IWU, Franklin, Creighton, U of I, Hanover

PBR: Where did Vincennes first see you compete?

Jake: At Vincennes last few summers

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Jake: They expect me to contribute in the starting rotation right away.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Vincennes?

Jake: I am a good leader, I lead by example, and I am calm under pressure.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Jake: My parents, and all of the coaches that have worked with me over the years.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Jake: Indiana Bandits, throwing a perfect game against an Illinois team last summer.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?

Jake: Jared Ruxer

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Jake: My goal is to lead the team to the state championship and be the leading hitter, and the number one pitcher on the team.

Jake: Indiana Bandits- .368 BA, .554 OBP, .568 Slug, 30 IP, 36K's, 58% strikes
