Jordan 12   -   Panther Creek 1

Jordan (Durham) visited Panther Creek in Cary for each team’s first game of the 2017 season on Monday. Jordan busted the game open with a five run 3rd and later sealed the win with a five run 6th.  Three pitchers combined to toss the six innings in the 12-1 victory.

Jordan banged out 12 hits and received 10 bases on balls, leading to their 12 runs.  Jordan’s offensive attack was led by junior Tyler Wilson (2018) and senior Sean Hamilton (2017) with 2 hits apiece.  Shortstop Will Hoyle (2017, Duke commit) flashed defensively, showcasing agility, speed, and good hands. Aaron Smith (2018) scored 3 runs, leading the way for the Falcons.

Panther Creek’s offense was limited to 7 hits on the evening.  Defensively, shortstop Ben Laspaluto (Gardner Webb commit) shined.  Laspaluto has the athleticism to stay in the middle of the field and made routine plays with ease.

Each team introduced a Freshman to the NC High School Baseball scene.  Jordan’s Luke Hutchinson threw one inning, topping at 81 with a breaking ball at 68.  Panther Creek’s 2020 grad, Koen Moreno ramped his fastball up to 84.  PBR will have more on the prospects seen on opening night in the NC HS Scout Blog.
