Jupiter: Days 2-3 Notebook

The World Wood Bat Championships are taking place in Jupiter, FL, and Prep Baseball Report is on the ground covering the country’s top prospects. Here are highlights from Friday and Saturday.


+ The Texas Rangers Scout Team are loaded with talent from The Lone Star State and two athletic arms stood out Friday and Saturday. On Friday, RHP Blake Mayfield (Marcus HS, TX) took the ball against Georgia PG Texas Orange. He went three innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six. His fastball was 88-91 in the first and settled in at 86-89 with finish, garnering swings and misses. He struck out six of the first seven batters he faced and also mixed in a hard slider with late break and 3/4 tilt at 77-80.

+ On Saturday, the Rangers sent LHP Bodi Rascon (Decatur HS, TX) to the hill. The Oklahoma State recruit has an easy, loose delivery and quick arm. His fastball jumps out of his hand, sitting 90-92 in the first and settling in at 88-90 with life. He pitched three innings, allowing a walk while striking out four.
