The Kansas high school baseball season has kicked off. Over the next several weeks,  we’ll be publishing our team spotlights during the 2021 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications. Perennially, we’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team analysis.

If you would like your team covered, please have your head coach email us at [email protected]

TOP PLAYER

BEN SHIVELY

P / OF / BONNER SPRINGS HS, KS / 2021

The Senior heads into the 2021 campaign needing to be the guy the Braves count on both on the mound and in the outfield.  Ben is the only player that will suit up for the Braves that has any Varsity experience as he spent the 2019 season as the team's number three pitcher and hitting .348 in 54 plate appearances.

OUTLOOK

The strengths for the Braves in the 2021 season according to their coaching staff is their belief in their strong pitching staff and ability to defend at a high level.

The biggest question mark will be their lack of experience and their ability to compete 1-9 in the order with the bats.  Getting these new players up to Varsity speed quickly will be key early on the season.
