John Santoianni, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound LHP from Souderton HS has announced his commitment to Villanova University. The lefty grew up less than an hour from the Villanova campus and according to Santoianni, "I chose Villanova University because I felt like it was the best fit for me athletically and academically. I have been a huge fan of Villanova my whole life".

Santoianni sees himself initially working out of the bullpen and potentially matching up against lefthanders. In discussing his biggest strength as a pitcher, Santoianni said, "I definitely believe I have great stuff on the mound and can get hitters out. I pride myself on being devastating to left-handed hitters and that's where I can help the team out immediately."

Following a busy summer of travel baseball with the Philly Whiz Kids, he is now concentrating on his senior season of high school baseball. "I am going to work hard this off-season to become more polished as a pitcher and work on pinpointing my accuracy". Souderton HS returns a strong core of its roster for 2012 and could be primed for a solid 2013 season. "I think we have a great team and have a chance to go deep into the state playoffs. I am going to do my best to help our team achieve its goals", Santoianni added.

Currently ranked No. 84 in the Class of 2013 in Pennsylvania, Santoianni will now team up with LHP Hunter Schryver from Cumberland Valley HS. Schryver, currently ranked No. 103, is a 6-foot, 170-pound prospect who committed to Villanova as well.
