Day Two of the 2023 MLB draft is now in the books, which means 314 picks are complete and ten rounds (11-20), totaling 300 picks remain for today. With loads of talent still available we saw a handful of surprises and some fascinating storylines on Day One and several more on Day Two. We break it all down below.

STORYLINES

+ The best available players heading into the second day were Cameron Johnson (IMG Academy, FL), Cooper Pratt (Magnolia Heights, MS) and Ethan McElvain (Nolensville, TN). Bonus demands always play a large role with the MLB Draft and no doubt the reason that these premium talents went unselected. However, when the Day One talent Pratt was selected in the 6th round by the Brewers their earlier selections made much more sense. They also followed his selection with a pair of college seniors and two graduate students in the 7-10th rounds. Johnson and McElvain went unselected and both are likely to attend college; Johnson at LSU and McElvain at Vanderbilt.
