March is finally here and baseball tryouts have officially hit the ground running for Public Schools across the Old Line State. This year, we have decided to keep the same format as last year as we will keep two separate rankings throughout the Spring season. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will be released every Monday throughout the season.

Season Snapshot

Coach Joe Cassidy comes into the 2022 season with high aspirations for his team that struggled to find success just a year ago. This roster has an abundance of talent on both sides of the ball and a slew of players looking to have a bounce-back season in 2022.

On the bump, the Vikings will look to a plethora of upperclassmen to lead the rotation including Senior righty John McGowan (UCONN) and Juniors, Liam Bowen (Frostburg), Lion Gardiner and Mitchell Hwang. After a strong Fall and Winter, look for Bowen and Gardiner to really take that next step and lead the Vikings on the bump.

Offensively,  the Vikings look to capitalize on the experience gained by a ton of younger players last year, navigating through an extremely difficult region. With the departures of shortstop Matt Ryan (UMBC) and third baseman Eli Putnam (Davidson), coach Cassidy will turn to his new Senior and Junior leaders to lead the charge at the dish. Look for big things out of outfielder Niko Alexander (Macalester), first baseman Weston Weilminster, and Junior outfielder Liam Bowen (Frostburg). Sophomores Ethan Murley and Gideon Schwartz will also be penciled in to compete for starting spots, as both are very talented on both sides of the ball.
