Midwest Premier Super 17 All Tournament Team
July 3, 2020
Pitchers
Grant Holderfield, LHP, Cangelosi Sparks, 2021 (Indiana)
A long and broad shoulder frame, Holderfield came out of the pen both times on the weekend firing strikes with both the fastball and the slider. The left-hander’s stuff speaks to dominating left-handers at the next level, but command of his fastball allowed to him to get outs on both sides of the plate this weekend.
2021 Grant Holderfield (Oak Park-River Forest @IndianaBase) shuts the door for @CangelosiSparks sitting 84-86 and reaching back for 88 whenever he wants it, low effort. SL is advanced with tight spin and late break. Low 3/4 slot with deception. @MW_Premier @CreeksideBase #Super17 pic.twitter.com/On3GEwpcjT

Jared Lessman, LHP, Minnesota Blizzard, 2021 (Uncommitted)
For the 6-foot-2, 195-pound left-hander, it’s all about spin rate. Lessman was spinning the fastball at elite rates getting continual swing and miss punching out 9 in four innings of work. Curveball and changeup do just enough to keep hitters off balance.
2021 Jared Lessman (St. Croix Falls) impressive left-handed pounding the zone at 85-87 with elite spin (2470-2500), jumps on hitters. Deception in the delivery, and move velo to come. @MW_Premier @CreeksideBase #Super17 pic.twitter.com/BKCinf6tzZ

Ben Hess, RHP, Rake City, 2021 (Indiana)
A physically impressive 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame with broad shoulders and strength in the lower half. Hess charged the zone with his riding fastball at 92-93 T94 with little need to mix anything else.
2021 Ben Hess (@IndianaBase) lighting up the guns and pounding the zone here at @CreeksideBase in his first inning of work for @RakeCityOrg sitting 92-93 T94. Very clean operation. @NathanRode @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17pic.twitter.com/7mk0nxGG3H

Kyler McIntosh, RHP, Canes Midwest, 2021 (Alabama State)
No one pitched with more confidence than 6-foot, 160-pound McIntosh on the weekend. Coming out of the pen once in a pressure situation and then turning around and starting the semi-file game. The Alabama State commit has advanced feel for a college ready slider and kept hitters off ballance by pitching backwards at times.
2021 Kyler McIntosh (Columbus North @BamaStateBB) is sitting 85-86 T87 for @CanesMidwest, but the real weapon is the slider at 76-77 (2350-2400). @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17 pic.twitter.com/p1YHDwPqd9

Closer
Chris Gallagher, RHP, Canes Midwest, 2021 (Wright State)
A 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. The right-hander pounded the zone from both a submarine and over the top slot mixing in a Frisby slider from down low. The right-hander got consistent early and weak contact with the occasional punch out on the slider. Gallagher pitched with poise and intent, rarely going to a three ball count in both of his multi-inning saves in bracket play.
2021 Chris Gallagher (Cathedral) was locked in and lights out closing the door tonight for @CanesMidwest. Sub FB ranged 80-83, Frisbee SL 70-72, 3/4 slot FB 86-88. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17 pic.twitter.com/jAVfgYEoDB

Austin Bode, C, Canes Midwest, 2021 (Louisville) - (Most Valuable Player)
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound packed with strength, physically Bode is college ready right now. Offensively, Bode never gets cheated on a swing and when he connects, which is often, he hammers balls from gap to gap. Defensively, Bode appears to take pride in his work behind the dish, never taking a pitch of receiving and covering big ground to keep blocks in front.
2021 Austin Bode (Columbus North @LouisvilleBSB) puts @CanesMidwest on the board and up 3 with one of the harderst hit balls of the day. Explosive swing w/ intent from a 5-11, 195-pound muscular frame. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17pic.twitter.com/loxWGwUowg

Middle Infield
Noah Miller, MIF, Hitters, 2021 (Alabama)
Though he couldn’t push his team through to bracket play, Miller had arguably the most impressive weekend of the tournament on both sides of the ball. Miller posted multiple extra base hits from both sides of the dish against high-end arms. Defensively, I haven’t seen the whole country but Miller has arguably the best high school shortstops in the country.
2021 Noah Miller (@AlabamaBSB) sends a ball deep down the left field line for a triple for @hittersbaseba11. Elite defender as well. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier#Super17 pic.twitter.com/8XZfe2nadJ

Aidan Jackson, MIF, Nebraska Prospects, 2021 (Uncommitted)
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with quick twitch athleticism. Jackson was the motor that drove the NE Prospects into bracket play posting hit after hit and playing solid shortstop.
2021 SS Aidan Jackson flys out to the opposite field track here. Has had a solid weekend for @Prospects_NE. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17pic.twitter.com/TljsBzjLgZ
— Andy Urban PBR (@PbrUrban) June 28, 2020
Kyle Hayes, 1B, Pro Player Canes, 2021 (Uncommitted)
A 6-foot-1, 220-pound frame with strength throughout. Hayes did extra base damage all weekend being on time with a heavy barrel consistently, including blasting a home run.
2021 Kyle Hayes (St. Charles East) has been one of the offensive stars the weekend showing impressive juice to all fields for @MCHurricanes. A web gem robs him of an oppo double here. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier #Super17 @PBRIllinoispic.twitter.com/falT7FbozV
— Andy Urban PBR (@PbrUrban) June 27, 2020
Liam Moreno, 3B, GRB Rays, 2021 (Missouri State)
A broad shouldered and barrel chested frame with advanced strength throughout. Moreno’s strength makes him a consistent doubles threat. Though a big body, Moreno moves very light on his feet and shows soft hands that will allow him to stay at third at the next level. The highlight of Moreno’s weekend was a walk off hit in the semi-finals.
Devin Neal, OF, Royals Scout Team, 2021 (Kansas)
A rare combination of speed and power, Neal stands a muscular 5-foot-11 205-pounds. Committed to Kansas to play football as well, one of the top ranked running backs in the country. While his game still needs polishing, Neal has shown the ability to find barrel with pop and cause havoc on the base paths.
2021 Devin Neal (@KUBaseball) ropes a double in the opposite field gap. Plus bat speed and elite foot speed to go with it. @CreeksideBase @MW_Premier@NathanRode #Super17 #MLBDraft pic.twitter.com/iS9BVqvlHp

Avery Grant, OF, Midwest Nationals, 2021 (Uncommitted)
A strong and athletic 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. The right handed hitter racked up hit after hit on the weekend including a walk-off HR to dead center field.
Chase Jans, OF, Royals Scout Team, 2021 (Kansas)
An electric athlete with wiry strength throughout, Jans stats 6-foot, 187-pounds. Jans could develop into a true 5-tool players as he continues to polish his game.

UTL
Josh Caron, C/OF/1B, GRB Rays, WI (Nebraska)
A broad shouldered 6-foot, 200-pound frame with strength throughout. The right-handed hitter shows consistent barrels with strength and the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Defensively, Caron controls the run game with a strong and accurate arm from behind the dish. His arm strength and adequate foot speed could get him innings in the corner outfield spots at the next level on days off behind the dish.
Carter Jensen, C/DH, Royals Scout Team, 2021 (LSU)
A power packed 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter continues to prove his is one of the top power bats in the country peppering balls of the center and right field fence regularly off of elite arms.
One of Missouri’s top ranked 2021 players and â¦@LSUbaseball commitâ© Carter Jensen continues to rake with RBI knock here for the â¦@RoyalsScoutTeamâ© #MPL17pic.twitter.com/DQ08qoX0Yv
