Report: Recognized as one of the country’s top arms, Hambley looks to continue his upward trend going into 2021. The physical right-hander boasts one of the best fastballs at the high school ranks, topping out as high as 95 on some scouts guns, and comfortably lives in the 90-93 range. His secondary stuff is also elite, boasting a sharp, high spin rate breaking ball with good shape and a diving changeup that works 10-12 mph off his fastball. Having the physicality and makeup to get in and compete right now in the Pac-12 and a pure arm strength perspective is not a lot better than him. Hambley is a few minor adjustments away with his command to become a true can’t miss, high-end draft prospect.
Future: With the upcoming 2021 draft approaching, Hambley looks to leave no doubt in scouts’ eyes as to why he should be added to a long list of British Columbia born pitchers to make it in professional baseball. Hambley already has made his commitment to the perennial D1 powerhouse of Oregon State; furthermore, all signs point to him landing a roster spot on the Junior National Team. Hambley has risen near the top of the national ranks and is one of the first names out of scouts mouths when talking draft prospects north of the border. If he can work on his command of all three pitches and prove he can get professional hitters out with the national team, it will not be a matter of if Hambley gets drafted; it will be when.
