Moeller's Class of 2015 Starting off Strong

By Chris Valentine

Moeller High School, the two-time defending Division I Ohio state champion, regularly produces talent for the next level.

Each year, multiple Crusaders make commitments to college baseball programs at all levels.

However, there is one interesting fact that often gets overlooked during these commitments.

In most cases, the juniors at Moeller have never played an inning of varsity baseball, and it's not because they aren't talented, but because of the incredible depth within the program.

Now, that we have put that into perspective, lets take a look at the notable players in Moeller's Class of 2015.

+ On Monday evening, IF/OF Josh Hollander became the first junior Crusader to issue a commitment as he gave his verbal pledge to Kent State. The athletic prospect has the versatility and tools to play a number of different positions at the college level.

So, who is next?

+ Keep your eye on RHP Grant Macciocchi, who figures to play a big role in the Moeller rotation this spring. Throwing from a low 3/4 to 3/4 arm slot, the righty has some funk in his delivery. His fastball moves and he has command of both a curveball and hard slider. Macciocchi has been hearing from or received offers from several schools including Coastal Carolina, Wright State (where his older brother plays), Missouri, Furman, and others.

+ IF/OF Jordan Ramey is one of the hottest junior prospects from Moeller. In the past couple of weeks, the speedster has picked up offers from both Ohio University and Marshall.

+ RHP Joe Vranesic didn't even play his sophomore season after transferring from Northmont. Instead, he spent his spring facing the Moeller starting lineup in intrasquad scrimmages. After a strong summer, Vranesic played this fall with the Midwest Redbirds and then traveled south to Jupiter. He has taken visits to a number of programs including Indiana, Cincinnati, Miami, West Virginia, and Ohio State. He will be headed to Virginia Tech in the near future.

+ IF Kyle Dockus will be one of a handful of talented infielders on the Moeller varsity roster. In many ways, Dockus' style compares to 2013 graduate Justin Wampler, who is now playing at the University of Dayton. The scrappy infielder isn't afraid to get dirty, take an extra base, or do the little things that help win ball games. He has taken several visits, including stops at Ohio, Xavier, and Michigan State.

+ Other notable prospects include 1B Bryan Soth, C Bailey Montoya, RHP Mitchell Bault, LHP Zach Hoffman, and IF Mitchell Meece.
