FT. MYERS—The Mosley Dolphins came out of the gates swinging Wednesday morning and were able to cruise to a 12-2 victory over the Barron Collier Cougars. The Dolphins received a strong pitching performance from 2017 RHP Nicky Agosto and were led at the plate by 2017 SS RJ Yeager and 2016 OF/LHP JJ Bleday (Vanderbilt commit).
Mosley jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning which was highlighted by a 2-RBI single by Yeager. In the top of the second, Barron Collier was able to score their only two runs of the game on a line drive single to right field by 2017 OF Jack Bueltel. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Dolphins responded in the bottom half of the frame by adding three more runs to their total, quickly taking the momentum back into their favor.
The exclamation point to this game came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Bleday drove a line drive home run down the right field line that stayed just inside Pesky’s Pole at Jet Blue Park. Mosley was able to end this contest in five innings and will now look forward to a rematch of last year’s 6A state championship game against Archbishop McCarthy tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
