NC Power 25: March 13, 2023

Matt Payne
North Carolina Director of Scouting

PBR Scouts of North Carolina have been on the road and pouring through box scores over the 1st two weeks of the North Carolina High School season getting to know the players and teams in 2023. Below, we update the North Carolina Power 25.

For the March 13, 2023 release, there is not a ton of movement when compared to the preseason poll. There is a new No. 1 as East Forsyth has played a very strong schedule, leaning on the depth of its pitching staff, to start the year 5-0. Previous No. 1, Wake Forest, wore the burden of No. 1 for two weeks, getting everyone's best shot. While 2023 is a long year, and the expectations for the Cougars has not dropped, a 3-2 start did drop them to No. 2, behind the Eagles.

Only 2 teams make their 2023 debut with Myers Park and Orange HS moving into the rankings.  Myers Park jumps to No. 11 after starting 3-0, including a win over No. 7 Pinecrest HS.

Another big mover is JH Rose from No. 19 to No. 10. While playing a very strong schedule to start the year, Rose is averaging over 12 runs per game. The Rampants were expected to be strong on the mound and defensively. With the offensive fire power, their expectations for a deep run in May could be bolstered.
