Londonderry

LONDONDERRY, N.H. - Veteran head coach Brent Demas is no stranger to success since arriving at Londonderry in 2003. The Lancers have been to the Final Four on seven occasions, winning three state titles in that span and finishing runner-up once with Demas in charge of the program.

The 2019 season is expected to be more of the same despite losing a large group of starters from last year’s squad.

“The strength of this team through the pre-season has been a pitching staff that is deep and throws strikes often,” noted Demas. “They trust their defense enough to not worry about strikeouts and pitch to contact.”

Junior Nolan Lincoln is expected to be the ace of the staff with Reece Manor, one of three returning starters, the number two pitcher. Manor is also anchor of the infield at shortstop. A senior, Manor batted .407 with 13 RBIs last year while on the mound was 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA, fanning 18 in 20 innings of work.

A pair of sophomores will also see time on the mound in Brandon Fish and Owen MacDonnell. Fish was a starter in the middle infield last season with 18 hits while MacDonnell is a 6-1 185-pound left-hander “with a heavy ball and a hammer” according to Demas.

Senior Zack Luongo and junior Luke Marsh are right-handed pitchers that will also play outfield for the Lancers in 2019. Nick Cote, a senior committed to play at UMass-Dartmouth, is another outfielder for Londonderry,

Senior Jack Dingman is a returning starter at catcher bringing experience behind the plate to the Lancers. Junior Tyler Kayo is another catcher who also plays third base and is expected to see playing time for Demas this year after receiving seven at-bats in 2018.

“At the plate we’ve been getting the timely hits that have led to a strong offensive performance against a lot of quality teams,” Demas said about the program and what has led to success in the past.

While Manor led last year’s team in hitting, Fish returns after a .290 campaign that included four triples for a Londonderry squad that ended the season with a 12-8 record.

Key losses from the 2018 team include outfielder Rick Perry, now at Franklin Pierce, and left-handed pitcher Anthony Pirolli, now at Southern Maine..Perry hit .344 with a team-high 13 RBIs and 13 stolen bases while Pirolli 3-3 with a 3.84 ERA.

Another big loss to graduation was Nate Sullivan who batted .397 and was 3-1 on the mound with a 1.99 ERA. Jake Bolduc, a .362 hitter, Shane McNamara, who averaged.360 and Anthony Gerraro, a .339 hitter are others that must be replaced.
