Scouting Report

NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)

Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

One of the more impressive all-around players at our Preseason All-State this past Monday. 6-foot-2 210 pounds with middle infield type actions at 3B. Defensively- Above average glove side range; soft hands and suitable left side arm at 79 MPH. Behind the plate, a pitcher's dream with a low center of gravity setup with a feel around the edges of the plate. Consistently between 2.02-2.09 on pop times with a peak velocity behind the dish at 76 MPH. Offensively- Balanced approach at the plate, generating some pull side pop with a repeatable stroke. Improved exit velocity from 88 MPH to 92 MPH. NYC product with a quiet confidence and in game instincts. Expect a major jump in our 2018 NY state rankings.

NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)

Jethro stands in at  6-foot-2 210 pounds with high end athleticism for his size. He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.38 home-to-1B. Offensively- Jethro starts in a spread stance and quietly takes his weight and hands back for timing with a quick heel lift. Aggressive with lower half with a short swing path into the zone. Decent extension out in front with a late one hand finish. Used a wood bat in BP and produced some of the better driven balls of the event. Big time power potential as he develops. 88 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Jethro worked out both at 3B and behind the plate flashing athletic actions at both. As a 3B he moves exceptionally well to his left and showed soft hands. Can take his time with his release and throw on the run with multiple arm angles. Flashed a quick arm with a peak INF velocity of 78 MPH. Behind the plate he presents a big target, sticking pitches out in front. Squares up balls in the dirt with a fairly quick recovery. Pop times ranged between 2.14-2.20. Exhibits proper footwork and gains ground on both glove side and throwing side. Quicker transfer and staying more towards the balls of his feet then flat footed should get him much closer to the 2.0 mark. Velocity as catcher was 70 MPH  with a quick recoil finish.
