New Albany knocks off Carroll

Saturday--- New Albany vs Carroll

New Albany met Ft Wayne Carroll in what could be a potential State Finals preview. New Albany sent out ace, Josh Rogers. Rogers was impressive, he showed his fastball at 85-88 touching 89 on occasion. His breaking ball as always was sharp. Rogers also added a change up to his repertoire. The change up was on occasion a good pitch. Rogers struck out 5 in five inning worth of work including striking out the side in the fifth.

Five strike outs in five innings off a pitcher like Rogers is very impressive on an offensive side. Carroll consistently did not chase bad pitches. Ross Koble has to be one of the toughest players in the state to strike out. A left handed hitter Koble, faced two left handed pitchers with good breaking balls and fastballs above 85. Koble did not give him on one at bat, including a 12 pitch at bat against Josh Rogers.

Carroll picked up one run in the first, before Rogers shut them down for the next four. New Albany did their damage in the third. Jordan Striegel (Louisville) hit a two run double and eventually scored. In the fourth , Carroll added 4 more in the fourth. That was all New Albany need to hold off Carroll to win 9-4.
