New Pal Wins Pitching Duel

Whiteland, IN--- On the hottest day of the year, it was the starting pitching that was scorching players from New Palestine and Franklin. Meeting for the first time in years, the renewed rivalry did not disappoint as Franklin Junior Jeremy McKinney faced off against New Pal Senior ace Brian Page for the second game of the day.

Page gave himself the lead in the top of the first on a walk and stolen base, and came around to score on a two-out RBI from teammate Connor Swain. That was all Page needed to pick up the complete game shutout victory outdueling McKinney who added his own complete game performance.

The pitchers combined for 19 strikeouts (McKinney twelve; Page seven) and allowed just seven hits between them. McKinney did so with a fastball that topped out at 88 and slider that broke hard away from righties. Page kept hitters off balance with good command, a fastball that sat 84, and a breaking ball that wasn’t put in play often.

Page who has verbally committed to Anderson has allowed just eight runs this year.
