HUB CITY SHOWCASE (SC) HIGHLIGHTS
-
PBR North Carolina Director Brandon Hohl was at Spartanburg Methodist (SC) last Friday for a showcase featuring both high school and JUCO prospects. Spartanburg Methodist sophomore OF/1B Caleb Watkins turned heads in his BP session.
-
Powerful build at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds. Middle of the order bat that has present power available. Lit up BP, turning heads and capturing eyes as balls rocketed off the barrel throughout BP clearing the outfield wall, and light standards, with ease. Exit velocity during the live BP routinely reached 95+, maxing out at 105 off the barrel. Thick chest and legs, maintains good balance from the right side. Quiet setup and stride. Plus bat speed and strength. Swing is geared slightly uphill, creating leverage. In the outfield, works cleanly through the ball, exchanging to a long arm action that peaked at 85 mph out of the hand and showed accuracy to 3B and the plate.
