TOP PITCHING PROSPECT

Adam Wolf, LHP, Edison HS, 2015

Good 6-foot-5, 210-pound frame. Lefty threw from a high ¾ clean arm slot. Fastball had some sinking movement at 83-86 mph. Curveball showed good gradual mostly downward break at 70-72 mph. Threw a changeup at fastball arm speed 75-76 mph. Threw three pitches for strikes very interesting follow.

TOP POSITION PROSPECT

Ross Adolph, OF, Van Buren HS, 2015

Adolph put himself on the map with this event. Relatively unknown at this stage, Adolph is one of the hidden gems tucked away in Northwest Ohio. You won't find him on the travel circuit as he plays legion baseball. The left-handed hitter has a big time swing. Starting in an athletic stance, he uses an explosive lower half. His hands stay through the zone and he consistently gets extension. He showed a fluid rhythm as the ball jumped off his bat to all fields. With big time power, he should become one of Ohio's top recruited power bats in the Class of 2015. At this stage, he projects as a corner outfielder. His arm is playable, but likely positions him best in left field. He showed good foot speed, but pending his college destination, he could potentially make the shift to first base as well.

CLASS OF 2015 PLAYER ANALYSIS

Aaron George, LHP, Wadsworth HS, 2015

Good athletic 6-foot-3, 195-pound body frame. Slow, deliberate tempo. Tall and fall type delivery. Will be aided by quickening his pace and incorporating more of his lower half. Lands closed. Showed an average curveball at 69-72 mph, His changeup was thrown at fastball arm speed at 73-74 mph. Reached a top velocity of 78 mph from the outfield. Still developing feel for the position. Offensively, he started with a balanced set-up. Has no present hand trigger. Uses a small step and swing as his rhythm. Top exit velocity of 73 mph. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash.

Avery Wilson, RHP/3B, Jonathan Alder HS, 2015

Good 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame. Threw from a low ¾ slot with slinging arm action. Fastball showed some tail at 77-79 mph. Curveball showed average break at 62-64 mph on this day, and changeup was thrown at below fastball arm speed at 64-65 mph. Would like to see him throw off-speed pitches with more arm speed as he tends to slow arm down. In the field, he projects as a corner type. Uses short arm action through ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 79 mph on his throws. At the plate, the left-handed hitter starts from a bit of a crouch. Tendency to drop his hands in his load. Uphill path to the ball. Inside/out production, but shows potential with his strength and size. Top exit velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.41 60.

Best tool is his glove at this stage. Offensively, he uses a balanced set up, but slightly open. Tendency to bar a bit in his load. Slight uphill path. He also ran a 7.46 60-yard dash.

Brandon Lekan, RHP, Strongsville HS, 2015

6-foot, 180-pound athletic frame. Uses an upper ¾ arm slot with average arm speed to produce a 77-78 mph fastball with some tailing movement. Threw curveball at 69-70 mph with average downward depth. Good two-plane action. Throws split change at 69-71 mph with fastball armspeed and slight drop. Overall steady rhythm with command of multiple pitches.

Brent Solinger, RHP, Jackson HS, 2015

Big frame at 6-foot-7, 250-pounds. Uses a clean ¾ arm slot with slower arm speed. Throws fastball straight at 77-79 mph. Threw breaking ball at 66-68 mph in which he needs to get on top of more. Threw a changeup at fastball arm speed with some tail at 69-70 mph. Will improve as he speeds up his lower half and gets down hill sooner.

Brock Balderson, RHP, 6-1, 195, Marlington HS, 2015

Balderson has steadily been making jumps over the past past couple of years, and he positioned himself as one of Northeast Ohio's top junior prospects at this event. While he doesn't offer a great deal of projectability, he is one of those guys that carries himself well and knows how to pitch. He throws through a high 3/4 arm slot with long arm action that shows some quickness. His fastball in the mid 80's and was up to 86 on several occasions with good late arm side run. More impressive, he showed command of multiple off-speed pitches including a 74-75 mph breaking ball with late 11/5 action and a changeup that is sold with good arm speed in the low 70's. The delivery requires a little bit of effort and he needs to work on maintaining direction with his lower half, but he is a definite follow this spring and summer.

Bryant Kennedy, 3B/RHP, Chagrin Falls HS, 2015

6-foot, 190-pound prospect with athletic frame. Long arm action through low ¾ to ¾ arm slot. Average strength with top velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance. Short stride. Tendency to bar in his load. Aggressive lower half. Slight uphill path to the ball with pull tendencies. Hands show some quickness. Top exit velocity of 84 mph off the tee. Ran a 7.50 60.

Charles Kuhn, MIF, R/R, Twinsburg HS, 2015

Wiry 6-foot, 175-pound frame with room to fill. Infielder showed good hands and feet. Used a clean upper ¾ arm slot to throw 79 mph across the infield. Projects as a third base type. Used balanced set up with toe-tap timing mechanism. Good hands back to shoulder trigger. Showed ability to hit line drives to both sides of the field. Square it up consistently. Top exit velocity of 81 mph. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. On the mound ,he throws with short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with sink to the arm side. Breaking ball showed good 11/5 action down in the zone while changeup was a bit erratic and still has room for development.

Collin Wrona, OF, L/R, Gahanna Lincoln HS, 2015

5-foot-11, 175-pound body frame. Outfielder threw with 74 mph arm strength. Short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Some length to his transfer. Offensively, he starts with weight mostly on back leg and on the toe of his front foot. No present hand trigger. Room for improvement with use of his lower half. Line drive production. Top exit velocity of 71 mph. Ran a good 6.94 60-yard dash.

Connor McVey, MIF, R/R, Tallmadge HS, 2015

5-foot-9, 165-pound frame.. Infielder showed good actions with quicker feet. Has a bit of a stiff release, but had descent arm strength at 72 mph. Will improve as transfer and arm action shorten and clean up. Offensively, he has a lot going on in his swing. Starts at a balanced set up then uses a big inward turn with his front foot, and hands back trigger to shoulder. Will gain repeatability by simplifying swing and developing consistent rhythm. Ran a 6.96 60-yard dash.

Dalton Davis, C, Uniontown Lake HS, 2015

Davis is a big, physical prospect with an ideal frame. Like Russo, he has made strides since this past summer. He was easily one of the most physically developed players in attendance. Behind the plate, he impressed with exceptional quickness in his hands and transfer. His pop times ranged from 1.91 to 2.07. His actions require some effort, which brings into question the repeatability of his throws, but on this occasion, he showed accuracy around the bag. At the plate, Davis projects as a middle of the order bat. He starts in a balanced stance with a short stride. He uses an aggressive swing with quick bat speed and an uphill path. Davis shows good barrel whip and creates good lift off the bat. He posses obvious pull power in his swing. If he doesn't work out as a catcher, Davis could project as an offensive first baseman.

Damian Maglione, SS, R/R, Uniontown Lake HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect with strong lower half. Good range with some athleticism in his feet. Likely an offensive second base type. Needs improve arm strength for the left side. Showed ability to use both fields. Line drive type hitter. Top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash.

Dave Neale, RHP, 6-1, 186, R/R, Revere HS, 2015

This was Neale's first appearance at a PBR event. After a strong summer and fall, the lanky righty showed the live arm that is drawing the attention of college coaches. He uses long arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot with some quickness. The nerves may have gotten to him a bit, but when he kept direction and stay closed, he showed a consistent mid 80's fastball in the zone with arm side run. His breaking ball sat in the low 70's with late 11/5 action down in the zone. It should be an effective out pitch at the next level. He showed command of a 74-76 mph changeup with good arm speed and fading action. Overall, Neale isn't the most polished prospect but given his frame, arm speed, and potential, he will attract plenty of attention from Division I programs.

Daniel Mitri, C/3B, NDCL, 2015

6-foot, 180-pound prospect with athletic frame. In the infield, he uses short arm action with accuracy to his throws. Natural actions. Top velocity of 72 mph. His feet work. Maybe be transferable to second base. Behind the plate, he throws with short arm action through a ¾ arm slot. Top velocity of 71 mph from the crouch with pop times between 2.16 to 2.25. Dominic Hinton, RHP, Archbishop Hoban HS, 2015

Thin 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. Used a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Fastball was at 77-78 mph with some tailing movement. Slider was at 67-69 mph with some dropping movement. Curveball was slower at 60 mph with 12-6 break. Changeup was thrown at fastball armspeed with some dropping movement at 70 mph. Outfielder threw with 81 mph arm strength. Offensively, he starts with a crouched slightly open set up in which he gets back to even. Has a slight hand trigger. Slight uphill path. Pull tendencies. Needs to continue to build more strength to frame. Ran a 7.12 60-yard dash.

Dylan Ramey, MIF, R/R, Green HS, 2015

Ramey projects best as a third baseman or offensive second baseman. He likely excels playing shortstop at the high school level, but he is better suited for the other roles. In the field, he showed a solid defensive skill set. He uses short arm action and a quick transfer while producing accurate throws across the infield. He showed some carry with a top velocity of 79 mph. Throws well from different angles on the move. At the plate, he starts from a wide crouch. Using a short stride, he incorporates his lower half well. Overall, a solid, compact swing with some quickness in his hands. Created solid contact to all fields with signs of pull power.

Dylan Welch, 3B, R/R, St. Ignatius HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 185-pound body frame. Infielder  looks to be more of a second-base type with average actions. Uses a slinging type arm action to produce 63 mph velocity from a ¾ slot. 6-foot-3, 215-pound pound southpaw with big, athletic frame. Broad shoulders. Throws from high ¾ arm slot with a bit of deception. Will be aided by improved use of his lower half. Fastball sat in the upper 70’s to low 80’s with some natural cutting action. Breaking ball had good two-plane action at 63-65 mph. Good command of within the zone. Also used a developing changeup at 71-75 mph that tended to be down in the zone. Definite follow.

Jacob Bokar, C, Strongsville HS, 2015

Bokar's catch and receive skills stood out amongst the group. His actions are smooth, controlled, and require little effort. He shows quickness in his feet and transfers his weight well. With his throws, he stays low through the ball and delivered consistent times on the bag at 2.03-2.09. Expect his times to transfer to game play. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows a simple, playable swing. He is short to the ball with solid line drive production. He doesn't project for a great deal of power, but should deliver consistent, quality contact.

Jake Jones, LHP/1B, Marlington HS, 2015

6-foot-1, 165-pound southpaw. On the mound, he throws with some quickness through a high ¾ arm slot. Regular effort to his delivery. Fastball had some cutting action at 77-80 mph. Top velocity of 71 mph across the infield. At the plate, he showed some raw power. Athletic stance. Short stride. Pull tendencies in his swing. Top exit velocity of 77 mph.

JD Orr, OF, Mount Vernon HS, 2015

Orr continues to show the raw tools that have college programs from around the Midwest and South intrigued with his possibilities. You can't miss his strength and physicality. His speed is elite with a legit 6.65 60, and he has been timed as low as 3.78 out of the box on drag bunts. The biggest question surround Orr is ... how will he hit? He still has some work to do, but he has the hand eye coordination to make consistent contact. Once he becomes more refined, the possibilities could be scary. He registered a top velocity of 81 mph with some carry to his throws.

Joe Caserio, IF, OF L/R, Mayfield HS, 2015

5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect. In the infield, he uses short arm action. Reached a top velocity of 69 mph. Will improve as he creates angles. Average hands and feet. Hands start high in his load. Pull tendencies in his swing. Impressive 7.03 60.

Jordan Burns, C/1B, Archbishop Hoban HS, 2015

At this stage, Burns is an interesting prospect. It is tough to tell his position at the next level. With a solid, physical frame, he has the body type that translates to being a backstop, but inevitably, it wouldn't surprise me to see him find a home at first base. But, behind the plate, he showed potential with pop times between 2.06 to 2.16. His actions require some effort, which brings into play the repeatability and game play actions. Nonetheless, he is a definite prospect to follow. The right-handed hitter starts with an open stance. He uses a big of a leg kick in his swing and utilizes an aggressive lower half. His path to the ball is short and he creates solid contact to all fields. He shows some juice in his swing as the ball jumps off his bat with obvious pull power.

Joseph Caporale, SS, R/R, Mayfield HS, 2015

Has a thicker lower half to add to his 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. Infielder showed good feel for the position. Creates angles to the ball. Will be aided in all facets of the game by improved physical strength.

Thin 5-foot-11, 155-pound body frame with room for added strength. Outfielder threw with 74 mph arm strength. Average hands and feet. Offensively, he used a balance set up. Used a low ¾ arm slot to throw across the field at 66 mph. Offensively, he used a big front leg kick, with no present trigger. Short path to the ball. Choppy type rhythm to his swing. Needs to continue to get stronger physically. Ran a 7.31 60-yard dash.

5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. First baseman showed average actions with a clean release at 67 mph. Also worked out in the outfield. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph. Ran a 7.93 60.

Mitch Eglar, LHP, Twinsburg HS, 2015

6-foot, 180-pound athletic frame. Eglar shows potential as a two-way prospect at the next level. His speed (6.72 60) and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect to follow. Beyond his speed, his best tool as a position player may be his bat. He starts with a slightly open stance and shows good balance. Overall loose, fluid rhythm. Uses slight uphill path and generated solid contact to all fields. In the field, he reached a top velocity of 78 mph, but will only improve as mechanics are cleaned up. Showed that he can be up to 81 mph off the mound.  Lefty uses a short quicker arm action to produce a 79-81 mph fastball, Breaking ball showed some cutting movement at 63-66 mph, and needs to get more on top of it. Fastball is thrown below fastball armspeed at 66-67 mph.

Nathan Colbert, 1B/OF, North Ridgeville HS, 2015

6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect with big, solid frame. Best tool is his bat. Starts in a tall, open stance. Uses a short stride. Incorporates his lower half. Moves well around the bag with some feel for the position.

Nick Beck, OF/3B, NDCL, 2015

6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect with lanky frame. On the mound, the righty uses a slow rhythm. Throws with average arm speed through an over the top slot. Fastball was straight at 78-80 mph while breaking ball showed gradual action at 68-69 mph and changeup was thrown near fastball arm speed with some sink at 77 mph. In the field, he showed accurate throws with a top velocity of 73 mph. Average hands and feet with some length to his transfer. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Registered top exit velocities of 78 mph from the right side and 63 mph from the left side.

Pavin Parks, SS, Louisville HS, 2015

Parks is one of the top middle infielders out of the Northeastern part of the state. In the field, he shows natural actions with good rhythm and feel. Plays with a bounce in his step as he looks the part. He creates angles and plays through the baseball. Reached a top velocity of 76 mph with some quickness to his transfer. With increased arm strength, he could stay on the left-side at the next level, but figures to play second base. At the plate, the left-handed hitter is a line drive hitter with some occasional gap power. Displays loose hands with some quickness to his bat speed.

Reed Kuivila, OF/1B, University School HS, 2015

6-foot, 190-pound prospect. Long arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Showed accuracy to his throws. Top velocity of 74 mph. Tends to play from his heels. Will improve as he plays through the baseball. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Minimal upper-half load. Uses his lower half, but room for more. Slight uphill path. Top exit velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.13 60 yard dash.

Riley Campbell, SS, Wadsworth HS, 2015

This was our first time seeing Campbell, and he impressed. In a year without an abundance of middle infield prospects in Ohio, he should find his services in high demand. His foot speed is obvious given his 6.66 60. But, it transfers over to the field as he displays good range and natural actions from the short stop position. The biggest knock on his defensive skill set would be his arm action, but even with that he shows good carry and a top velocity of 80 mph with long arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot. His skill set could also give him the versatility to play the out field as well. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in an athletic stance. He shows good balance and creates momentum through the baseball with his lower half. His hands work well through the zone on a slight uphill path. He consistently drove the ball up the middle with solid contact. His top exit velocity registered at 84 mph.

Roger Engle, RHP/SS, Clearview HS, 2015

6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect with athletic frame. Bit of a raw prospect at this stage. On the mound, he sat 77-81 mph with some arm side run. Uses a slight inward turn in his delivery and through with average arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. More lower half needed. Breaking ball showed spin at 68-70 mph while he tends to slow down his arm speed on a 70 mph change up. In the field, he uses short arm action through a ¾ arm slot. Average hands and feet. May play better as a third baseman or corner outfielder. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Bars in his load and uses a long stride. Top exit velocity of 73 mph off the tee. Ran a 7.64 60.

Ronnie Krsolovic, 3B/OF, Riverside HS, 2015

6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect with athletic frame. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 68 mph. Fields from an athletic position with average hands and feet. 6-foot-2, 210-pound catching prospect with ideal size and frame. Three-sport athlete. Uses short arm action through a ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 70 mph from the crouch. Pop times ranged from 2.13 to 2.18 but we have seen him lower in the past. Good approach at the plate. Slightly open stance with a bit of a crouch. Uses a short stride and good use of his lower half. Quick hands and a short path to the ball. Line drive production with some pop in his bat. Top exit velocity of 83 mph. Overall fluid rhythm to his swing. Definite follow.

Sam Russo, C, North Canton Hoover HS, 2015

There may not have been a prospect in attendance that showed as much progress as Russo over the past year. Let's start with his defense. He isn't a 6-foot-2, 200-pound backstop, but Russo still has a solid, athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds that should up at the next level. Using quick feet and short arm action, Russo delivered consistent and accurate 1.97 to 2.05. He may need to improve his setup as he starts a bit wide. His arm strength is good, but still has room for growth. Overall, he had some of the cleanest mechanics of the catcher's in attendance. Offensively, Russo starts in a tall, balanced stance. He uses a smooth load and displays excellent balance throughout his swing. With quick hands and advanced approach, Russo creates solid, gap-to-gap production.

Scott Leonard, RHP, Westlake HS, 2015

Very thin projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 150-pounds. Came from over the top angle with a short arm action. Fastball was at 76-77 mph. Curveball drops gradually at 66-68 mph and changeup was at fastball arm speed 70-71 mph with slight tail movement.

Tanner Doenges, C, Avon HS, 2015

5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect with strong, physical frame. Built like a linebacker. From the crouch, he reached a top velocity of 73 mph. Short arm action through ¾ arm slot. The lower slot causes some tailing action at times. Pop times ranged between 2.09 to 2.13. At the plate, he starts in a crouch. Takes uphill path with some length to it. Pull power in his swing. On the raw side at this time, but has some potential. Top exit velocity of 76 mph. Ran 7.87 60.

Travis Auth, MIF, S/R, Walsh Jesuit HS, 2015

Has 5-foot-9, 168-pound frame. Infielder projects as a second base type. Short arm action through low ¾ to ¾ arm slot. Top velocity of 67 mph. Average hands and feet. Switch hitter. From the right side, he starts in a balanced stance. Tends to bar his arm. Average bat speed. Contact type hitter. More pop from the right side. As a lefty, he produced consistent line drives. A bit weaker from this side, but still created solid contact. Will get better with added strength to his frame. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash.

Tyler Kennedy, RHP, Chagrin Falls HS, 2015

Athletic 6-foot, 190-pound frame. Came from over the top slot with average arm speed. Fastball was straight at 78-80 mph. Threw a slider with average tilt at 69-73 mph, and a split changeup at fastball arm speed 71-73 mph.

William Woods, MIF, R/R, Tallmadge HS, 2015

Thin 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame with plenty of room for added strength. Projects as a second base type. Good arm strength with top velocity of 78 mph across the infield. Short arm action. Feet have room for improvement as creating angles and playing through will only aid his actions. Offensively, he starts with a balanced stance. Uses a small leg kick. Some quickness in his hands. Line drive type hitter with surprising pop for his size. Showed ability to use both sides of the field. He ran a 7.27 60-yard dash.

William Jamieson, RHP, Lake Catholic HS, 2015

Used an upper ¾ slot with a clean arm action. Good hip load and lead to his delivery. Direction stays on line. Smooth rhythm with slight inward turn. Fastball was straight at 76-78 mph. Curveball was downward gradual type break at 61-62 mph. Good command Changeup was thrown at fastball arm speed at 67 mph with some tailing movement. Threw three pitches for strikes.

Yanni Patten, 1B, Highland HS, 2015

Patten's ticket to the next level is at the plate. The big left-handed hitter uses an aggressive approach at the plate. On this occasion, he used a wooden bat and showed excellent bat control. He starts from an open stance with a bit of crouch. With quick hands and an uphill path to the ball, Patten showed obvious pull power in his swing. He projects as a middle of the order type bat. Patten will need to continue to improve his physique and foot speed; otherwise he may best used as a DH at the next level.
