PBR OK is excited to announce the inaugural OK Class of 2023 Rankings. PBR OK has compiled our list of the top 75 2023 prospects in the state primarily through our events like the Junior Future Trials and the Fall Underclass Games. This year’s freshman class has the look of another talented and deep class, featuring many prospects showing advanced skills with lean, developing frames and high ceilings.  As we do with all of our rankings, we took into consideration current skill level, current athleticism and strength, and short and long term projectibility.

Top 3

Taking the top spot in our initial OK 2023 rankings is switch hitting SS Jaxon Willits (Fort Cobb-Broxton), an Oklahoma University commit. The 6-foot, 180-pound athlete has a developed and strong lower half along with some broadness in his shoulders. At the dish, we have only been able to get eyes on him from the left-side where he shows a balanced and quiet set-up. Uses a smooth load and moderate stride before launching his hands on a short and slightly uphill path through extension with bat speed and strength in his hands. Shows a calm, confident, and patient approach at the dish. Defensively, more of the same confident approach with a high IQ and smooth, confident actions with soft hands and clean footwork. Willits’ hands, feet, and arm strength with carry across the diamond will allow him to stay on the left side of the infield. His frame and foot speed could push him to be an elite defender at third at the next level, depending on development.

Filling the second spot is a lean and quick twitch SS, Kyler Proctor (Silo). The athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound framed Proctor already shows advanced defensive skills with quick and clean footwork, soft hands, and accurate arm with some strength at 81 mph across the diamond. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows some barrel whip and occasional lift with a middle to pull side approach, barreling nearly every ball in BP, and an 86 mph exit velo. Proctor also shows his athleticism with a 7.11 60. On the mound, the right-hander shows the ability to touch 84 with strikes while possessing feel for a changeup and curveball as well.

At number three is another versatile athlete in C/OF Jerson Martin (Norman North). Looking much leaner than his 6-foot, 190-pound listing, Martin shows elite bat speed and strength for his age with an 89 mph exit velo. Martin connect with nearly all barrels at the OK Fall Underclass Prospect Games in BP and in the game. The catcher and outfielder also shows advanced arm strength from both spots with a 1.91-2.08 pop time and 77 mph from behind the dish and 82 mph from the outfield. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and relaxed set-up with rhythm throughout before launching his hands on a short and slightly uphill path through extension with a gap to gap approach.
