OK Fall Upperclass Games: Right-handed Pitcher Reports

PBR Oklahoma hosted the OK Fall Upperclass Prospect Games at The University of Central Oklahoma that featured 68 prospects from the 2022 and 2023 classes.  The event was highlighted by some impressive by both guys having recently committed, some that committed shortly after the event, as well as a few still looking to land a home at the next level.  Today we take a look at the 24 right-handed pitchers the event with looks at their mechanics, arm actions, pitch shapes, and more.  You can view full stats and event details by clicking here.

 

Cole Abbott, Bixby (OK), 2022 Cowley County Commit
Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-3, 200-pounds. Physical and mature frame with present strength.
Delivery: Smooth and methodical rocker style footwork around the rubber with good rhythm and pace.  Works to a mid height balance point with hands working quietly and breaking early from the glove.  High glove front side.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum and direction headed to the plate.  Lands to a slightly bent plant leg with chest over the front leg at release.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a loose and clean arm action.
FB: T89.29, 86.30-89.07 mph. Mostly straight shape with good riding life though the zone and strong spin. T2252, 2082 average rpm.
SL: 73.56-85.34 mph. Short and tight action with good spin and late east/west shape. T2176, 2019 average rpm.
SPLT: 77.1-76.5 mph. Strong downward depth with swing and miss potential.

Braydon Sanford, Owasso (OK), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 170-pounds. Athletic and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Delivery: Step in front rocker style footwork around the rubber.  Slow and methodical rhythm and pace to the delivery.  Works to a high balance point with weight leaned back onto back heel and slight coil with the hips and shoulders.  Clean hand break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  High glove front side action with strong pull in at release.  Long stride down the mound with good extension.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum and direction headed to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a clean and quick arm action.
FB: T87.68, 83.22-86.84 mph. Slight arm side run at times with some riding life through the zone and good tilting action at the bottom of the zone. T2107, 1990 average rpm.

Tre Speer, Glencoe (OK), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-1, 177-pounds. Athletic and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Delivery: Quick rocker style footwork around the rubber with hands working above the head with good rhythm.  Works to a high balance point with a full weight stack onto the back leg.  Heavy coil with the hips and shoulders at the top of the delivery.  Clean hand break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Shorter strides down the mound into a firm plant leg.  Athletic delivery and balance throughout the motion.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a loose and quick arm action.

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-4, 203-pounds. Projectable and physical build with present strength.
Delivery: Tight footwork around the rubber working to an easy pivot foot.  Works to a high balance point with weight leaning forward onto back foot toe.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and uses a glove tap rhythm at the top of the zone.  Pulls the front side glove across at release.  Tall and fall style motion with short push off the rubber.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good extension.
Arm Action: RH. Over the top arm slot with a short arm swing and longer release.
FB: T85.97, 81.25-85.21 mph. Mostly straight shape with some tilting action to the bottom of the zone. T2166, 1992 average rpm.
SL: 66.52-68.46 mph. Slurvy shape with developing spin. T1589, 1523 average rpm.

Gavin Watkins, Plainview (OK), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-2, 200-pounds. Physical frame with present strength.
Delivery: Works exclusively from the stretch position  Works to a high balance point with a strong weight stack onto the back leg with front foot working behind the body at the top of the delivery.  Hands break from the glove quickly with a glove tap rhythm.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with strong momentum headed towards the target.  Leg sweeps out into a longer stride with good extension.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a shorter arm action.
FB: T84.73, 79.35-83.91 mph. Strong sinking action and arm side run. T1886, 1755 average rpm.
CB: 68.90-69.05 mph. 12/6 shape and will show strong downward depth at times. T1793, 1768 average rpm.

John Keim, Charles Page (OK), 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-5, 175-pounds. Long and lean projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Delivery: Short and simple footwork around the rubber working to an easy pivot foot.  Works to a mid height balance point with heavy shoulder and hip coil at the top of the delivery.  Quick pace and rhythm to the delivery.  Hands break from the glove quickly at the top of the delivery with the hand pulling straight down out of the glove.  Short sink into the lower half with slight push off the rubber.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum and direction to the plate.  Heavy core rotation at the release point.
Arm Action: RH. 3/4 arm slot with a shorter arm action.
FB: T84.72, 82.55-83.96 mph. Strong spin metrics with good riding life through the top of the zone and tilt to the bottom of the zone. T2210, 2102 average rpm.
SL: 74.02-75.19 mph. Sweeping shape with slight depth and heavy east/west action. T1844, 1743 average rpm.

Kyle Mantooth, Mustang (OK), 2022 NOC Enid commit
Positional Profile: 2B/RHP
Body: 5-11, 185-pounds. Athletic and projectable build with present strength.
Delivery: Short and simple footwork around the rubber with a slow and methodical pace and rhythm.  Works to a mid height balance point with good posture and strong weight stack onto the back leg.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good direction and momentum headed towards the plate.  Short sink into the lower half with slight push off the rubber.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action.
FB: T84.65, 82.43-84.33 mph. Heavy sinking action with good arm side run. T1979, 1919 average rpm.

Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Athletic and projectable build.
Delivery: Rocker style footwork with a slow and methodical pace and rhythm. Works to a mid height balance point with good posture and strong weight stack onto the back leg.  Hands work quietly and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good extension and into a firm front leg.  Slow sink into the back leg with good push off the rubber.

Colt Weaver, Calera (OK), 2023
Positional Profile: 1B
Body: 6-6, 215-pounds. Large and physical projectable frame.
Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch position.  Works to a mid height balance point with weight fully stacked onto the back leg.  Hands break from the glove early and at chest height with a very high glove front side.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum headed towards the plate.  Lands to a firm plant leg with chest over the front knee at release.  Drop and drive motion down the mound with a strong push off the rubber.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a longer arm action.
FB: T82.39, 80.15-81.88 mph. Strong arm side run at times with good command.  T2021, 1925 average rpm.

Positional Profile: SS
Body: 6-3, 195-pounds. Physical and projectable frame with present strength.
Delivery: Rocker style footwork around the rubber with an up tempo and quick pace.  Works to a high balance point with a strong weight stack onto the back leg and good posture in the upper body.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and break smoothly from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with very strong direction and momentum headed towards the plate.  Short sink into the back leg with slight push off the rubber landing into a firm plant leg.

Delivery: Slow and methodical rocker style footwork around the rubber with a smooth pace.  Works to a high balance point with good upper body posture.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and works to a mid height glove front side.  Strong weight stack onto the back leg.  Tall and fall style motion down the slope with short push off the rubber.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with a shorter stride and into a firm plant leg.

Body: 6-1, 155-pounds. Long and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Delivery: Step in front rocker style delivery with an uptempo and quick pace.  Works to a high balance point with weight fully stacked onto the back leg and good upper body posture.  Hand breaks from the glove cleanly at the top of the zone.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum and direction to the plate.  Short sink into the back leg with a good push off the rubber into a slightly bent plant leg.

Body: 5-9, 155-pounds. Athletic and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Delivery: Short and simple footwork around the rubber with a slow and methodical pace. Works to a mid height balance point with weight leaning over the back foot toe. Utilizes a glove tap rhythm at the top of the zone with hands breaking from the glove at the top of the delivery. Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the middle of the slope with good direction and momentum towards target. Will show a slight stall out at times at the top of the delivery. Tall and fall style motion down the mound into a firm plant leg.

Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch and shows the ability to both slide step and work to a mid height balance point.  Hands settle at the bottom of the body with hand break at the to pof the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound.  Low glove front side.  Tall and fall style motion down the mound and lands into a firm plant leg.
