Ontario Insider: Tournament 12 - Battle of Ontario - Green vs Black

Rogers Centre: The big match-up that everyone was anticipating was the two Ontario teams facing off with two of the most coveted right-handers in the tournament in Landon Leach and Noah Skirrow. Leach is uncommitted and Skirrow just recently committed to Liberty University.

This affair was loaded with uncommitted talent with Noah Naylor, Dondrae Bremner, Jameson Hart and Tyrell Hebert all in the lineup. Also Tournament 12 veterans in Adam Hall and Cooper Davis, who have been on the same roster in years past were now going against one another for the first time.

Both Skirrow and Leach matched each other for the first two innings, throwing up zero’s on the scoreboard with Skirrow striking out four and Leach with three. Ontario Black was able to get on the scoreboard first as Rashad Collymore was hit by a pitch and a Naylor base hit through the six hole put runners at second and third with one out. A passed ball brought home Collymore while a 4-3 groundout by Hall made it 2-0 for Black after three innings.

The rest of the scoring took place in the sixth inning as Black added two more runs on hard RBI singles up the middle by Daniel Carinci and David Mendham brought in two more while a two out double by Noah Myers brought across the only run of the game for Green.

There were some defensive plays by both teams that stood out as right-fielder Adam Plouffe ended any kind of threat Green had in the seventh as he went into the gap to rob what looked to be a for sure triple for Davis, and double the runner on first. Bremner and Hall were both solid at shortstop, showing their range and defensive prowess.

A solid clean played game by both teams, the next time these two teams can square off will only be in a championship matchup.
