PBR Indiana recently sat down with Elwood HS MIF Kurtis Hussong.  Hussong is a 5-foot-11 inch, 155 pound middle infielder that recently committed to Lincoln Trail Community College.

PBR: What were your stats last season for Elwood and for the Indiana Bulls?

Hussong:  I batted .419 in high school ball, with 3 HR and only 5 K's. I batted over .300 with the Bulls this summer.

PBR: Why did you choose Lincoln Trail CC?

Hussong:  I chose Lincoln Trail mainly because I felt like it was the best fit for me, and because they have a good reputation for getting players where they need to be to move on to the next level.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hussong:  I was also looking at Owens Junior College, Parkland, and Kishawakae.

PBR: Where did Lincoln Trail first see you compete?

Hussong:  Coach Bowers first watched me at Ball State with the Bulls.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Hussong:  Coach Bowers told me on my visit that his plans were to start me at shortstop freshman year, so I’m excited about that.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Lincoln Trail?

Hussong:  I believe my biggest strength is my glove. I hope to come into Lincoln Trail and be a leader in the infield.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Hussong:  My dad Andy, he's the one who's worked with me all my life and without him I wouldn't be the player I am today.

PBR: What was your most exciting experience playing with the Indiana Bulls?

Hussong: I'd say the most exciting experience was getting to play at the University of Louisville.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?

Hussong:  Luke Stephenson

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Hussong:  My goal is to hit over .500 with at least 5 homeruns, and as a team I'd like to win conference.
