Scouting Report
Making his first start of the year after transitioning from basketball just four days earlier, Christo who his built like a Clydesdale horse came out strong in his senior season in front of 20+ scouts on a cool Nebraska spring day. In the first inning he was 91-92 mph with late life to his arm side. The inning produced two soft contact outs and a strike out on a 83 front door slider. He amped it up in the second in the 92-93 mph range and worked his way around a HBP and walk to start the inning. If you were to nit-pick you'd say slider was a bit inconsistent and left mostly to his arm side but as the weather warms and Christo settles into the spring season it will be a swing and miss pitch. Christo also showed major improvements to a change up which has heavy sink action in his arm side. Final line was 3.0 IP, on 57 pitches (.61% Strikes), 1 Hit, 3Ks and 2 BBs. Overall, Christo was sharp. His composure under the circumstances were impressive, he never buckled and stayed within himself.
6-foot-2, 185 pound right handed pitcher topped out at 82 mph with his fastball. Project-able frame with long limbs. Fastball was in the 78-82 mph range in his two innings of work. Uses leverage to get the ball on a downhill plane. 12/6 shape on 65-68 mph breaking ball, landed comfortably for strike. Avg feel for 68-69 mph change up with downward action.
11/7/17- 6-foot-2,185 pound right handed pitcher topped out at 81 mph with his fastball. Mature build. Repeats well. Fastball gets on a downhill plane. Arm has tendency to slow on 67-68 mph breaking ball with 10/6 shape. Changeup is developing, avg feel for strike zone. At the plate, tall square stance, leg kick trigger, some stiffness in hands, compact slightly uphill barrel path, hard contact to pull side. Posted an exit velocity of 84 mph off a tee. Avg. actions for age in the outfield, plays the ball out front, long transfer, topped out at 77 mph to the catcher.
